How come some of you feel this is more interesting than the other McLaren before?

It doesn't have a joker face. It's a (little) more elegant. It's not as attention grabbing. 

 

Exactly. The worse part of a McLaren before was the joker face, the modified 540/570 joker face as an improvement, but this one loses that hideous face completely.
