Ferrari and many luxury car dealers have always done this though this has become more difficult as people nowadays are more difficult to judge as in the past. When I lived in the düsseldorf area in the Late 80s I couldn’t  understand why someone would pay a premium for a Ferrari or Lamborghini or even a Mercedes in the little town I lived in. But I was told by someone in the businesss that the some of the premium dealers didn’t want a certain clientele in their dealerships rubbing shoulders with their existing customers. And the heavily tattooed bouncer type pimp still wanted to drive his S class Mercedes and paid a premium for it and bought the new car second hand with a few kilometres on it.
