          The little buttons and cheap switches in the 991 are crap. Not that the 997 is beautiful but it does not have such a cheap feel. 


Exactly. Those buttons in the centre console are horrible and if you don't order each and every extra, the blind buttons are even worse.

I don't think they look cheap but yes, "blind buttons" are a (design) disease car manufacturers need to get rid of.

Cheap as in relative to the 997 buttons. For example the light switch next to the ignition key.  The 991 knob is smaller and cheaper. Period. Like looking at the knobs on a Merc C class vs E or S Class. Just a bit cheaper in look and feel. Mind you I don’t give a flying fig about the knobs themselves but it betrays an overall approach toward the newer cars. Driven by accounting departments.
