Depends. A 500 HP Z4 GT3 will do 6:30 on slicks IIRC. You don't need insane power to set fast laps, you need aggressive suspension, sticky tires, and aero -- all things that could easily be done on the previous model as well. Sure, you need enough power to move the weight, but power/weight only gets you so far in lap times.

I think the extra 200 hp and 215 ft-lbs of the GT2RS (compared to GT3 and GT3 RS) is so helpful because it allows them to use very aggressive drag-inducing aero without it being slow in a straight line (to say the least).  This really maximizes the tires and cornering speed in a way that would be much slower on the straights with lower power.
