I have never seen or heard of a Porsche that is "cheap" to run.
I don't have the numbers, but I cant imagine that it is that far off the R8 or the SLS.
BTW - There are already quite a few (new) R's racing in various series.
The 'issue' is with the engine which needs revision every x-hours, an issue that R8/SLS/... have not due to their production engines they're running in the race cars. At least that's what I'm told.
