The latest news is that Tesco, Asda and Morrisons are denying all liability for this fiasco when it's clear that their petrol stations are to blame.

1000s of cars have been affected. The contaminated fuel contains ethanol which has been added somehow, either accidentally or deliberately. Cars are juddering and misfiring resulting in expensive repair bills to replace faulty oxygen sensors which result from this contaminated fuel. There is now a nationwide shortage of oxygen sensors for some cars.

Tesco's attack dogs (their marketing dept) tried to scotch any allegation that they are responsible for this debacle. Clearly, in the short term, they want no liability for compensatiing drivers for the necessary repairs. Longer term, they want to protect demand for supermarket fuels.

It's a dirty business indeed
