There is a rumour on RL about the Ring laptime:

Trofeo R - 6:47;

MPSC 2 - 6:53

Announcement at the beginning of September...

Someone in the know to confirm or deny? yes

Weird when Porsche is not officially doing the Ring attempt until Sept.

Whatever people have recorded would be testing times.

It looks like Porsche are testing the GT2 RS at the Nurburgring...

Oh yeah they are testing and tuning the car still. It was clearly stated by the GT team back in Goodwood. They don't really lock in the official production spec until after the Ring attempt in Sept then starts production in Nov 2017

Makes sense, but why would they even bother testing with Trofeo R, if that will not be an OEM choice?  Might as well try real racing slicks as well...

I assume they'll also set a time with the new Dunlops which will be a factory offering (some say they should be faster than Cup2's).

If these times represent early efforts with improvements to follow, very impressive!

Pirelli is still a Porsche supplier. Regular 911s run PZeros so they have every right to test the Pirelli tires too Smiley

But the problem with Trofeo Rs is that it doesn't last, Porsche needs to weight performance vs durability. The tires have amazing grip, much higher than the Cup2s. My buddy who tracks a GT3RS at my track switched from N1 Cup2s to Trofeo R and picked up 2 seconds right away on the same day. But those Trofeo Rs only lasted 3 days on the track, about 100 laps and they are down to cords. The N0 Cup2s on my 918 however are amazingly durable. I have over 11,000km on the car now with about 200 laps on the track. Still got about 1-2mm left before the wear bar on the rears.
