The 987 will be introduced AFTER the 997... they don't want to make the same mistake they did with the 986/996.

You have to bear in mind that it's quite challenging to introduce a new model... therefore, the last thing you want is to introduce 2 new models at once... especially when you only have 3 models !!!

For example you want to get a "free" press coverage twice and not only once... and you don't want journalists to compare the cars head to head... you also want to create some traffic into your showrooms twice ... On an industrial standpoint the ramp-up phase is always tricky and you don't want to multiply the risk to mess-up....

Finally Porsche don't really care if Boxster sales are in free fall .... profit contribution for this model is marginal .... The 911 is still (and will remain for a very long time) the highest contributor therefore it's the one that gets most of the "attention" from the company....

I guess the new Boxster (987) will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005....
