The new Carrera engine is a new development and can be changed to many different applications, by simply switching some parts. Interesting concept, so yes, the next GT3 engine, if turbo charged, could actually be based on this one.

Porsche engine engineering has evolved a lot, the engines are basically bullet proof now, so no worries here. I know they had difficulties with the first 991 GT3 engine but like I said in the past...supplier issues. When you order only a small quantity of parts from specialized suppliers, this is what happens. Unfortunately.
