Very well said.  I know many owners of older Porsche vehicles feel similar.  And for many years Porsche enthusiasts collectively responded to straight-line comparisons that way, with good reason.  Though I am more in the Porsche camp, I can fully appreciate your point here.  Had I more money to work with regularly I would probably sway over to that side of the ownership experience at least on occasion.

I do think Ferrari take it a little too far if they threaten to cut a regular customer off from future allocations or even pursue some kind of trademark damages for making their privately owned vehicles available for comparisons.  I can see some line of reasoning there, but its a little too protective and implies they have something to hide.
