As for the fire on the 458s. The supplier for the rear fender lining changed the adhesive without notifying Ferrari. The original specified one can withstand high heat, the replacement didn't, that's why it got detached and burn up. 

Everything is about cost. The supplier exchanged the expensive glue formula to a cheaper version to boost bottom line. Didn't work out too well for all parties.

It would seems the same thing is happening to 918 parts, except in this case Porsche caught it early.
