It is a fact that the hype with lap times etc. promoted by the  media incl. video reviews now, influences many decisions.

The laptime advantage of PDK is exaggerated.  If someone is a good driver and the car has 30kg less weight with manual, the laptime difference is very small.  PDK only helps laptimes with faster upshifts (downshifts are done during braking and take less time than time to slow) - there is only a big difference here with turbocharged cars (no loss of boost while shifting).
