Watt, have you discovered Metacam? I hesitate to medicate the dogs too much, but my girl is extremely arthritic in her old age (~12 years), and boy does it make a difference. It's like she's a new dog. For me, it's about keeping her mind happy now, so if she can go splash around in the lake for an afternoon. pain free, than I'm sold. The stuff is worth its weight in gold, which is a good thing because it costs nearly as much...

metacam is a type of aspirin, maybe try buffered aspirin and save $ if it works.  Sun and Storm take steroids which dont go w metacam. So we use tramadol for pain..antiquan a shot that helps, but methylprednilisone, naltrexone, and armour thyroid (thyroid big cause of arthritis)  is our gig
