RC, thank you as always for your detailed and insightful posts regarding both the NSA and the petty discrimination regarding your children's school and your alleged "descent".  You express yourself well, and your message comes through clearly.

Regarding the school issues, our son goes to a fairly large (900 kids) neighborhood school, and the rule is no cell phone use inside the school.  The kids and parents support this policy, as you say you do as well.  If someone violates the policy, the phone is taken away and has to be purchased back for $50 US.

About car jealousy or reprisals, I often take my son and his friends to school in our Cayenne Turbo S.  i can honestly say we get admiring comments and questions from kids and teachers.  Other parents and teachers have large SUVs--Mercedes, Ford Explorers, Lexus, etc., so we don't really stand out.  At least in our international city neighborhood, luxury type cars are mostly viewed as symbols of success or something to aspire to.
