^^^Jaw agape. I knew the E30 M3's racing heritage was strong lending to the affinity for the M3 by BMW fans - and even non-fans, but had no idea its success was this dominate.

It makes me question what happened? The M3 is barely relevant in the various racing series it competes in. For a time here in the American ALMS the BMWs (E46s) were allowed to compete with V8 engines derived from the old M5 (Pre-V10) instead of their 6 cylinder engines and they were still weren't able to be as competitive as the other cars in their class.

My understanding is that they also did not participate in DTM for years, basically making it a 3 marks series (Benz, Audi, Opel).

The latest M3 has not been an overwhelming success at least here in the US.
