P_Nut:

In my case, the deposit went straight to the dealer. It will be an uphill struggle to ask for interest.

I have signed the standard order T & C, which absolves my dealer from almost any eventuality, including no delivery, late delivery ... all the way up to a force-majeure.

My dealer always has a convenient  stock answer to most of his internal problems. It is not us, it is Ferrari S.p.A.

Too many of THEIR conditions to make me feel comfortable handing them MY money.

I almost demand that their be an escrow account until confirmation that the build cycle for my car (which would be the purchase of components from suppliers or it's put on the physical build date) is assured.

I don't mind leaving a deposit. But I do mind giving companies interest free loans so they can turn around and sell it to someone else if I don't like their loose confirmed delivery dates. Force Majuere events, supplier issues, factory strike ... all understandable.

Moving my date with NO explanation after I just left you a grip of money on the table, is not.
