What is Porsche's ambition with this GT3R Hybrid at NBR? The car cannot win or get a decent position and it is outside the rules anyway, I think.

Why shouldn´t it be possible to win with this car? First of all, the weight penalty is not that significant and one has to remember that the cars in VLN/24h have to meet a certain minimal weight. It shouldn´t be a problem for Porsche to incorporate the technology within this weight limits, their placement in the car will only improve weight distribution on the rear-engined 911.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen (former DTM and F1 driver) entered the 24h race with a hybrid Gumpert Apollo two years ago and after all had difficulties with the combustion engine or, more precisely, its gearbox which repeatedly broke. The car was able to pull itself into the pits on the electric engine only. There are classes for alternative fuels and technologies so, in fact, the 24h race at the Nürburgring offers a playground like no other racing series so far.

Thanks! The car makes more sense now.

If they win something it will be a major coup for the new hybrid image of Porsche.
