From reading about this car, it seems that it is a great drive in the Mercedes tradition of speed from a big front engine with real world practicality, safety and comfort.

Not all buyers of very expensive cars (near 200k Euro) demand race car dynamics in impractical, limited use packages a la Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. Therefore, this car will sell very well to such people. I also suspect that the running costs of the SLS will be very normal and in a reliable package, compared to the the "junior" supercars.

The styling looks a very weird mix of new and old at first, but it is very unique, distinct and grows on you.

I expect the only real and credible rival to the SLS to be the Panamera Coupe in 2 years time, and with the added benefit of 2+2 seating.
