Strange! - before I rang the OPC, I washed and dried my car and also added some oil, as the level had dropped two below full.

I then took the car for a short trip to dry the discs and, guess what, the squeak had gone and hasn't reappeared.  It is now perfect again....could there be a connection with washing or adding oil? 

 

Well, I'd rule out any connection between adding engine oil and the squeak stopping, so it would appear that the wash did the trick. Smiley

Just a case of the notoriously dry British atmosphere causing steering column parts with relative movement to squeak? Smiley
