Just FYI - 993 aircooled dry-sump motors can be rebuilt in the field by a large number of shops. Wet sump 996/997/986/987 motors have to be replaced by Porsche even for relatively minor events. However, buying a whole motor from Porsche for a 993 is WAY more expensive (3 or 4 times as much).

The dry-sump 996 motors (GT2, GT3, and Turbo) are also really pricey like the 993 (same basic design).
