You are right on. This comparison is totally senseless. Everyone knows that there are more 997 on any street anywhere than the Aston V8. They picked the car that is more rare (or exotic if you prefer this term) on the street as the winner, but yet it lost all the objective comparison tests.
And they forgot to ask the most important question: why is the Aston V8 more rare? It is not because it costs so much money that people cannot afford it. It is because at its price range, every car buyers who have any car sense will buy the 997 instead.
