Ferdie, AMG stated a long time ago that they would move away from supercharging. The principle concern is excessive fuel consumption. The torque also requires excessive strengtheing and heavy components. The parent company, Mercedes, also stated they plan to use turbocharged units instead of Kompressors, hence the top of the range A-class has a 2.0L Turbocharged engine, and not the 1.8 Kompressor that Mercedes currently use.

I do not know why Ulrich Bruhnke went to BMW, perhaps personal reasons, but its too early to say AMG has exactly been missing him. AMG's head engineer Tobias said if everyone has it, we must have it as well, the technology is still 4-5 years of development work away but when it does arrive, you can have F1 shifting when you want to drive your SL55 like Montoya or regular Mercedes auto when you just want to cruise, the best option for AMG in the future IMO.
