I'm quite puzzled by this whole discussion, not understanding why the americans see it as such a big problem to use a car in winter conditions with salty roads. As I said in my previous post, Sweden is a big p-car country (at least per capita) and a lot of owners drive them all year round and I've never heard about any problems with exceptional rusting due to salt (not on any other car make either).

However, it just occurred to me what a colleague told me about his Land Rover, bought in NY and imported. A guy at a workshop had urged him to immediately rust protect the car since cars sold in the US do not receive the same kind of rust protection as european cars. If that's the case, it'll explain why I, in the first place never understood the big fuzz about the question.
