I've been really suprised with electric motors over the past couple years. I used to think they were gutless but then i learned that they produce a lot of torque, and produce that torque instantly and constantly throughout the entire rev-range. All the train engines over here (and probably throughout most of the world) are diesel-electric: diesel to provide electricity-electric motors to provide motion. and those trains need torque.
the biggest downfall- they don't sound like a flat 6 or the fast reving CGT
