A 7.62 mm high power assault riffle armed with AP rounds would defeat it. Pretty good agains standard ammo though.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.

    Re: X5 Security Plus

180kph too slow to get away in a pursuit situation

I once ordered a blue LED "under the windshield" flash light, commonly used by traffic police over here, for a friend who works as a doctor in Eastern Europe. He works as a doctor in a mountain area and has permission for a blue signal light, he just wanted something cool and small, not those huge round things with a magnet for his SUV (he drives a Toyota Landcruiser).

Six weeks after I received it (I ordered it through the internet and got it delivered to my business address), the police paid me a visit. The internet shop apparently passes on the address of customers to the authoroties. Smiley Once they saw with whom they are dealing with and the fact that I was able to explain where the light went, everything was OK.

I can give you the address if you really want one but expect a visit from our "green" friends.

Btw: ownership is legal, just make sure you don't keep it in your car because even if it isn't connected, they can charge you because you can make it work in a very short period of time (anything below 5 minutes is a problem, same with radar detectors).

This is the light I bought for him:

Well, I was very surprised too because this is no gun or whatever but apparently they do routine controls on stuff which isn't legal to use but legal to posses. Smiley

What the heck would I make with a blue LED police light in Germany, I'm not dumb to use such a thing over here. Why not ? Well: my wife worked for a couple of weeks on an emergency doctor ambulance (btw: a VW Touareg). From time to time, when her driver tried to pass through traffic with the blue lights and sirene turned on, some cars wouldn't move a bit. Two times during these couple of weeks, the hospital received traffic complaints of drivers because they reported that the driver of the emergency ambulance Touareg has driven too aggressive. Can you believe it ? Now just imagine what would happen if an ordinary person would use this blue LED light in traffic just for fun. It wouldn't take long before the police visits you at home, even if they don't catch you at the spot because other drivers would complaint.

I saw a similar "chaos" with a politician or special police (it was night, couldn't see through the windows) convoy once. Three or four BMW limousines with blue lights on the roof and sirene tried to get through traffic and nobody actually eliberated the street, people were still standing still at the red stop light. Smiley The driver of the first limousine opened a windows and waived a "Stop. Police" stick but it didn't help at all. Weird situation.

    Re: X5 Security Plus

If I read that comments in the German Thread how people talk and feel about the X5M, I think the special arming is an considerable option in our country!

I guess people are just sick of goverment interfering. Those guys often dramatise the situation and antagonize the people. It would upset people far less if they would just drive normaly in a convoy and use their lights and horn "with more consideration" if the trafficreally demands it. When they move in front of people and stop them waving angerly with the stop stick for some big man to pass and join his lunch party at the nearby restorant I get furious. And I'm usualy on foot when I see them!

That would make a X5M version of this car weigh as much as a Range Rover then!
