. Hence, tire pressure and to a higher degree a lack of camber at the front axle seems to be the reason. At least that's how it looks to me.

That's also what we concluded .

Have these cars had a proper alignment prior to track driving? At least on the Carrera T I assume that the suspension geometry is rather aimed towards versatility than track usage.

That doesn't mean that these specific tires are more prone to delimitation but more camber would definitely spread the load more evenly onto the entire tread surface.

The car was on standard geometry ....... but still . Lots of people drive their cars with standard geometry on the track and they don't get the tire to delaminate .  I drove many many tracks with my 997 Carrera S with non N rated PSS and standard alignment and never , ever, did the tire end up loosing bits of it .

On Michelin ' s defense , the tire were probably under inflated as it was the first session of the day  and the guys sticked to Cup pressure recommendations . But still ...... should ne end up like this .

To be fair, the exactly same setup driven by 2 different person will have different wear. Porsche provide us with identical setups for our race cars, 3 of us wear out the rear first, we loses rear hip way before he front. The 4th guy wears out the front first.

excessive front tire corner wear basically means the car is plowing. Under steering and leaning on the shoulders way too much. In a 911 that means someone is not properly trail brake the car to help it rotate. Those shoulders basically turned into an extra set of brake pads to scrub off speed.

The driver is a Swiss Sports Cup racer in his 7th season . He rarely drives anything else then a Cup car on tracks .

In this session he was chasing GT3's on Michelin Cup tire  with his GT4 on PS4 tire , that were probably not enough inflated + the car is on standard chassis setting .  He drove it probably like he drives his Cup . All this put together lead to the delimitation . Still, this tire should not delaminate like this .

So he knows how to drive.

GT4 doesn't need as much trail braking if at all to rotate compare with a 911. The tire is probably and in all likelihood under inflated. Rolling over the shoulders too much. And with the stock settings under steering too much also, all added to scrubbing the shoulders way too much.
