Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

    RC:

Let me guess: The Audi Q7 offered is basically the same price new as the used GL63 AMG you got offered?

Yes, exactly  he same price then the Audi new ( after all the rebates ) . The AMG is from 2013 .

But I don't need a 63 AMG . The car will be used nearly only as a transportation car and sit most of the time on my parking .

    Great . Thanks Smiley

The sound of the petrol is much better then the one from the diesel .

But now I am confused again Smiley I was going for the diesel , would of aded the ABT chip ,  but now this review praises the petrol engine ......

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

I think the Diesel engine is the better choice for your needs, especially if you can get that ABT chip without warranty issues. The sound is of course better on the petrol car but ask around, maybe ABT has a solution for that as well.

I understand that you don't "need" a G63 (who actually does? ) but I have to be honest: If I had to decide between a new Q7 Diesel and a used G63 with 45k km for the same money, I would choose the Q7 Diesel as well. It just makes sense, you get a completely new car and if your wife drives in it most of the time, the G63 is probably pointless. My wife got herself a Macan Turbo but I think the S Diesel would have been the better choice for her, especially in view of the high fuel consumption of the Macan Turbo in the city (14 l / 100 km).

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

Forgot to post this on Friday: My local Audi dealer called a while ago but I never had time to go there and talk to him. I am more interested in getting a used R8 V10 Plus but apparently, they want to (badly) sell the Q7.

So the dealer showed me a few cars, one was even available with all the options I wanted. Keep in mind that I would choose a Q7 with 333 hp petrol engine and the sportiest setup plus Matrix lights and all the tech I can get for this car, incl. air suspension. Finally, I ended up with 100k EUR (no major leather or design stuff, just the basics like Alcantara and a bit of leather). 100k EUR for a 333 hp petrol SUV? No thanks.

Lease offers were also not what I expected, they were good (and I could probably negotiate a better deal) but I was shocked with the final price tag.

I will check back on the Q7 once there is that rumored bi-turbo charged V8 available but I guess such a car would be at least 120k EUR and even much more if they offer this engine in a RS Q7 model only.

The Diesel with 272 hp would be a couple of thousands cheaper, not much difference. Quite a lot of money for a Q7 but I think we are going to see slightly used Q7 sometimes next year for at least 30% less.

Or, in a few years, his kids should be able to do the same.

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

RC get a grip. You must be bored out of your mind to even consider a slow Q7. You would regret it from the day you got it, no matter what the lease payment was. You have a heavy right foot and the speed you like just isn't in it.

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

What is more ridiculous? 333hp for 100k or 560hp for 180k?

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

You have a choice. Enrich Audi or Enrich Porsche. Both are tragically over priced. But if you want one, you'll get one.

I do not consider it, my wife does. She needs to replace her Macan Turbo in 18 months. The Jeep also has to go in 12 months. So in latest 12 months, we need to find a family car for her. Actually, she wants to have my 991 C4 GTS Cab and I should get the family SUV. It sounds worse for me than it is because most of the time, she would drive the family SUV. We may get the next generation Cayenne though, I have some data from a friend and it is very promising.

That's good news. I just couldn't imagine you being happy with only 333up.

Never. Smiley However, I don't want to throw more money out of the window for a family car.

I am still dreaming of a (used) G63 AMG but since my wife hates the G class, I don't think it will ever happen.

So the next generation Cayenne sounds like a good alternative if it will be as good as suggested by a friend. The Macan is certainly not a very good family car for us since it barely fits three larger suitcases. Last Italy vacation, we had to give one of our suitcases to some friends who were traveling to the same hotel. This year, we are planning to drive in the Jeep again, the Macan just isn't right for a longer trip, even if my wife prefers the quieter Macan.

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

I still don't see how the G can be big enough for you RC. It is a small SUV that seems to fit well in cities for soccer moms and perfect for a weekend trip to the country house...

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

The G is actually fairly big inside, it definitely has more room than my Macan. Luggage space is also amazingly good due to the boxy and tall cabin. The cabin however is narrow. 3 adults sitting on the rear bench with have some squish shoulders, but my guests much prefer that than sitting in the rear bench of a Macan.

Re: Jeep Confirms Hellcat-Powered Grand Cherokee

The rear of the Macan is for two big kids or two small adults, no more... Trunk is only big enough for a weekend trip... It is a city crossover, not a full size SUV. I can see how the G can fit maybe one more large suitcase because of the shape of the trunk. But nowhere near the size of the Cherokee or Q7.

Smiley The luggage room in the G class is pretty good. The only downside are the rear seats but for adolescent kids, no problem. I know the G class trunk doesn't look big but it actually seems to fit more luggage than the Escalade we had.
