i changed my order from rhodium silver to dark blue ... ... and you saw the dark blue on the turbo S in real life.. how was it ,, does it cover all the Airintake contrast ? like on black does ?

    thanks

The darker colors unfortunately hide a lot from the design elements. At first, I saw the dark blue Turbo/S from the side and I thought to myself, what a nice looking 991 Carrera. The side inlets were barely visible. I really think that the new Turbo/S looks better in lighter colors but maybe this is just me. For a stealth look, dark blue is quite nice.

For the last time: There are NO...again NO...dealer cars yet. First customer (AND dealer cars) will be built in September. OK?! Smiley Little hint: If you see a new Turbo/Turbo S with S, LB or BB license plate, this is Porsche. For now.

You can also easily recognize the "entry pass" for certain Porsche facilities in the upper left corner (they are round like the lower green emissions stickers).

Also, officially, the 991 Turbo/Turbo S hasn't even been presented to the press yet. A press event happens in August.

I might also add the Turbo S to my list of next car........ so now I will have to deceide between GT3 RS, TTS, or MP4 . For the moment I have a pre-order at my dealer for the RS .  The TTS is tempting because  I will be able to use it more, but I am a but worried I would miss the ' special driving feeling ' of the RS . The TTS could be a bit dull, except for the amazing turbo boost .......

I am getting more confused yes

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Guys, I understand you very well. I never actually considered the GT3 RS because it would be too extreme and too expensive for mainly street driving but the GT3 would have fit in quite nicely. I decided against the GT3 for mainly two reasons: First, I need the back seats and second, I need a car which is fast as hell under all street conditions. Also, why should I lie, I didn't want next gen AMG and M sedans/station wagons breathing down my neck on the Autobahn.

For speed limited countries, the GT3 or GT3 RS may be the better choice but only if you guys also plan to hit the track from time to time. For street driving, the GT3/GT3 RS provide of course more emotion but it is also very likely that you are going to be slower (not that it really matters) since you cannot afford going sideways all the time on public streets. angry

I know, I know, difficult decision. If I had the money, I would get both, the 991 Turbo S and the GT3 RS (in that case).

Anyone inclined to donate a GT3 to me? Smiley

Stick with the RS - it's soooo different to drive to any other model - nothing comes close to a go-kart feeling of the RS. I had a 991 4S loaner yesterday for my RS recall - and when I drove back home with mine again  I was grinning all over the place. It's something different that you can drive easily also in the swissalps - there are a lot of fast cars out there but the steering of a RS is still from a different planet.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The steering of the new 991 Turbo/Turbo S is 10% more direct than the one of the GT3 (speaking of steering feel) and the chassis is the next generation chassis (incl. a next gen AWD), not the one used in the C4S (which is basically an improved 997 chassis/AWD).

I don't say that the 991 Turbo S feels sportier than the GT3 RS but you cannot compare the 991 Turbo S to the current 991 Carrera 4S. Not at all.

What surprised me a lot about the new Turbo S was the fact that the chassis felt very stiff  and very "go kart" like but the dampers seemed to deliver enough comfort at the same time. It was a weird feeling because it didn't really fit the situation but I cannot say I didn't enjoy it.

I guess people need to take a test ride in both cars to make a final decision. Which of course is going to be difficult because I doubt that many dealers will have both available for a test ride.

It's not available in the Configurator, but I don't see why you couldn't buy those Sport Techno wheels separately and just have two sets of wheels... I believe there are photos somewhere in this thread of a Turbo with those wheels on (a yellow one I believe?).

I think the Turbo S wheels look terrific. Smiley

They are a very good evolution of the old Turbo S wheels and I can't really understand people already moaning about their design. Okay, if you don't want CL-wheels, you have to search for alternatives, but if CL is no issue, standard Turbo S wheels will do the job perfectly. Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Well , Chris Harris was very enthusiastic about the new GT3 steering - so I assume yr correct there - but I can hardly believe it as it must have much more weight on the front axle in a 991 TTS (4wheel driving) than on the RS - but I am also keen in driving the new 991 turbo once so I can get a comparison - good "problems" to have....... - I guess TTS is a all weather weapon whereas the RS is the surgeans knife !

On German Configurator they have the same measures, Sport Techno Wheels and Turbo S Wheels, except et56 (rear) on TTS and et48 (rear) on the other.... what measure is this?

The 991 steering is electric and fully adjustable by software only, no kidding.

So basically, all 991 models have the same drive feel (you do not feel the AWD anymore) and the GT3 has a slightly more indirect feeling (some would say it is feels "heavier") but of course the chassis makes the car very nimble and go-kart like. The rear axle steering is an amazing step forward in 911 chassis development in my opinion and the new PTM(AWD) system adds to the package.

Drive a newer 991 Carrera 4 or 4S, the steering feels is almost perfect, much nicer than on early 991. I think Chris Harris has mentioned this very good steering feel during his GT3 testdrive and the 991 Carrera models have profited from an improved setup too. Not sure however if it is available as a software "retrofit"/update for the older 991 models.

Chris Harris liked it but said he would reserve judgement on the steering until he tried it on damp patchy roads.  A recent experience in the Cayman S terrified him because it was so bad.  And prior to that I'm sure he said the Cayman version of the EPAS was better than the 991.

However, there may have been upgrades to the 991 Carrera EPAS that he hasn't tried.  Porsche ought to be evolving it but my most recent experience of the a 991 Carrera (MY13) didn't show any improvement.  Just as awful as ever. enlightened
