Do the colors match the color scheme on your GT4 Cup Car?

It comes in plain racing white, according to a certain someone here, the fastest color.

I planned to wrap the car like how Porsche did it for their promotional pictures.

Here's a picture of a Cayman running at Lime Rock this past April in that color scheme1468340934858RWR_4912.jpg

    718 GT4?

    http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/porsche-718-range-to-expand-20160719-gq9c92.html

Asked if he would like to introduce more variants of the 718 to match the success of the 911, Achleitner played down the chances of a significantly expanded 718 range, but did confirm the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder were on the agenda.

That looks like a ClubSport to be, you know, the one that's actually faster than a white GT4?Smiley

The cage inside and the much higher wing gives it away. I don't believe it has the SRO package though.

It is not actually announced yet, but Porsche will be offering the SRO package for the CS. It has light weight panels and different shocks and etc, to make it 100% homologated to the Pirelli World Challenge. 47k package that requires 50+hrs of labour, but if it is ordered on a not yet produced car,it is only 37k.

Oh, and the production of the GT4CS will ends at the end of July.

    Re: Cayman GT4

It will be interesting to see how Porsche manages the performance gap amongst the various versions. The 718 GTS will be faster than the current GT4, so it will be tough to pull a gap with a NA engine.

exactly my thought as well - as much as I like a NA car - from a Performance Point of view with all the torque the Turbo can generate - how you will be faster with "20hp" more maybe to the old ones against a Turbo with similar power ?

Yes, with only 20hp more in the NA engine it will be hard to outrun the new 4-cylinder blowers. So maybe the next generation GT4 gets a detuned 4.0l RS engine with 450hp... *dreaming* smiley

If Porsche could get to 420hp with the X51 it does not sound impossible that one could get to 440hp with more aggressive maps and race fuel.

When I put a deposit on the GT3, my dealer said it could serve as a deposit for the GT4 as well and I could decide later which I wanted.  This is going to be difficult if it's NA F-6 again.  What it they used a smaller or detuned version of the 4.0L (or the G-series 3.8L GT3 motor)?  Smiley  Or would it be the same motor as before with a little (25hp) bump, even though that family of motors has been retired?

    Re: Cayman GT4

I am fine with the current motor, if they could bump it up to 420-450hp that would be nice indecision It does not have to rev to 9k RPM, I rather sacrifice the last 1k RPM for more low end torque. Especially if it remains manual.

However, I would not change to a "next" GT4 without understanding the full package in details. A power bump is of course always nice, but I don't feel I miss power in the car. More important is that Porsche keeps the simple setup and don't start adding driving aids and more weight. To me the GT4 should be the modern take on the 996/997.1 GT3 models and it should focus more on driver involvement than lap records.

One thing that is often misunderstood is that by having a higher redline, you end up getting much more effective low-end torque, because the gearing should be adjusted lower to suit the new redline and the lower gears multiply the available torque at the motor when it gets to the tires.  And even before you look at gearing, the 9,000 rpm GT3 has more torque than the 7,800 rpm GT4 (i.e.with modern adjustable valve timing and effective intake tract length, you don't sacrifice low-end torque for revs).

This is why F1 cars from a few years ago (with 2.4L NA V-8) could absolutely smoke the tires even though they had very low torque 214 ft-lbs (about 290 Nm) - they redlined at close to 20,000 rpm so gears were super low (which puts lots of torque to the ground).

    A 981, when parked next to a 964, looks huge. It's also bigger than a 993.

It basically occupied the same footprint of a 996.

A 993 has the same wheelbase as a 1969 911 (which is lengthened from the 1964-1968).  The 996 is around 3.4" longer wb and the 991 is another 4" longer than that...

    A 991 has a wheelbase 11% longer than original (96.5" vs. 87") - huge difference.
