    Alfa Romeo 4C

quite a sexy Little car. this might be an alternative to consider instead of the Merc A45 AMG.

weight should be 850kg max with around 230 hp from a 1750cc 4 cylinder:

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

I think the Mercedes A45 AMG has more than two seats and it also has AWD. Completely different customer base in my opinion.

I don't trust Alfa Romeo products anymore and I also think that this car, while specs-wise interesting, is too over styled. It may attract younger women (and maybe men) but at my age, you want something different.

I am also not quite convinced on the weight of the car. 850 kg is not much and I wonder how they achieved it?!

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

Alfa Romeo hasn't produced a decent sports car in decades ..

I just don't believe that they can do it with the 4C; right first time, every time .. that is not the Alfa "tradition"

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

Carbon chassis and alu subframes, like MP4 12 whatever its callled

Weight has not been announced officially yet, rumored sub 1000kg

But it looks ridiculous, cartoonish, only a very young person could driive it

Those lights are horrible, shame they changed them, now its a collection of randomly placed leds

    Interior is...1360767862358Alfa%20Romeo%204C%2034.jpg

There's still hope though, allegedly there will be a Maserati  using the same chassis and at least a V6 biturbo

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

Disaster, both in terms of styling & engineering. Good for young ricky racer types though who want to elevate from typically Honda ricers etc though

as I read it, it's going to be above 981S price wise

Eeeps. Add financial to the styling & engineering disasters.

That aside, I can understand where Alfa is coming from as a beleaguered company......desperate times call for desperate measures.  I remember growing up thinking of the spyder as one hell of a sexy car. But not like the 911

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

It's a competitor to Lotus Elise, not 981.  Very lightweight and simple

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

Achieving 850 kg with todays reguations is an extremely difficult job to do. The design looks very daring, and aimed at the younger audience. Pricing therefore is constricted, and hopefully not at the expense of build quality. The Elise in 1996 was so successful mainly because people back then were much less demanding than today.

Can you explain the engineering disaster??? Styling is a personal and not discussable, but if they do a car that is so leight and with that mini supercar architectur, where is the disaster????

    i dont get it, !!!!!

if that's the actual interior, they can Keep it......actually Keep all of them indecision

the Website confirms 850kg....then again being italian that might be Chassis only without engine and Body indecision

good looking exterior on the concept nevertheless....

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

I love the exterior, like a litte ball of muscle. The interior is not as nice as the concept but let's see the final product.

Alfa Romeo has so much potential, what a history, what a pedigree, it deserves really nice cars.

The 8C is fantastic, we need more cars like this. Let's hope the 4C is the beginning of the new era. The numbers are amazing, < 1000 kgs kerb for < 50k euros would be simply spectacular.

I agree. I like this car. I'm a little bored by the "same old, same old" and this car is different. As for weight, I read elsewhere that the chassis will be made of carbon fiber. Somewhat controversial, since the material can really add to dynamic performance, or be really expensive to repair after a crash. I also read that it will be powered by a turbocharged four.

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

Guys, I think you can't really see "through" the design of the 4C. This is not the same clean design as on the 8C, which I like btw.. The 4C is some sort of mini car with a very over styled design approach. I bet that if you see this car in reality, you will hate it.  I still doubt the 850 kg and the 981S price tag but maybe Alfa Romeo wants to make a point, thus offering this car as some sort of statement for future products.

To be honest, I don't know why the Italians are going the wrong way for such a long time now: Looking at the past 10 years of Lancia, Alfa Romeo and even Fiat, I am shocked how bad their products have been. Fiat was a leader when I was young...the Fiat Uno was the car of young people in Europe, the Uno Turbo was amazing. Same goes to the Fiat Ritmo Abarth 130TC for example or where are cars like the Lancia Delta HF Integrale or the Lancia Thema 8 32? Where are cars like the Alfa Romeo Spider? Sorry but for me, Alfa Romeo is dead. Like Blackberry and Nokia.

The only clever decision Fiat has made so far, is buying in into Chrysler. Smiley

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

It seems that the bad interior showed is not the final one according to an italian car magazine...

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

I guess I'd wait to see the reviews and how the car handles. It could be a fun car if it handles well. Biggest concern would be reliability, but I'm at least curious!

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

850kg should be the dry weight, not DIN.

Its a very small car. Alfa will probably offer a faster Balocco version of it later.

Balocco is the proving ground of Alfa but... also a a very famous italian brand of Xmas cakes Smiley   While Fiorano (for Ferrari)  sounds cool I guess Balocco (for Alfa) would not sound so cool (at least in Italy).

I doubt this car will be a success. Like all FIAT Group products (except Ferrari) it is bound to have a hard time on the market. I was in Switzerland, Germany and Austria last week and I don't remember seeing anything from FIAT, except a few 500..........and one F12 in Zurich.

The Italian car industry sucks and I actually don't understand why??? They had such great products and they could really make good cars but apparently they don't care or what happened to Fiat and Co.???

I also don't get the Maserati strategy at all. The prices are too high, the performance is not competitive. I also would have started to use Alfa Romeo and Lancia to target Audi and BMW customers with attractive and powerful models, maybe even somehow involving Ferrari technology for marketing reasons but hey, who am I to tell them what to do?!

Apparently the Fiat Group is happy with one successful brand...Ferrari. And now also Chrysler. Smiley

Sorry, I don't get Fiat anymore. At all.

Oh yes Diva would have been nice,or any good car with Busso V6

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

According to the Autocar magazine the 4C will retail at the Cayman S price level (£50.000), which is great value for a sublime Porsche but not for a brand which has been practically out of the market for decades.

At this price it will have no chance. If it was aimed at Sciroco or TT, perhaps

    Re: Alfa Romeo 4C

You cant expect carbon fiber car of whch only 2500 will be made to compete on price with a Golf derivative...

Entry level sportscars of choice for a while were Elise/Exige or Boxster/Cayman and that is where 4C will try to fit in

It really is a halo car to wake up America abouut Alfa Romeo

And they plan to use the chassis for the Maserati model as well
