    Monte 911 Project

    i've located and bought my Project car. it's a 12/1977 Porsche 911 SC 3.0.

car has about 200.000 kms and is technically and mechanically in a decent shape.

my co-driver picked it up and dropped it off at our mechanic who will totally tear it down and rebuild it to get it Rallye ready.

will Keep adding info as we Progress.....

    Re: Monte 911 Project

surely martini colours are cool...then i am not sponsored by them...therefore wont do that.

i am thinking White with creme fuchs wheels and creme carrera lettering along the sides. will give it an RS look while not pretending to be an RS.....

    Re: Monte 911 Project

Wonderful project !  Gulf Blue would suit nicely your 911. Or you might have a look at the color combination of the 911 that won the Monte in 1968 with Vic Elford (though that was a pre-bumper 911 T)

    Re: Monte 911 Project

The Grey looks really nice. One thing though, think of it as a racecar, not something which must be accepted in front of the Cafe's. This could give you some other options, not that I have much in mind right now wink

    Re: Monte 911 Project

    yup, the grey Looks special

    Re: Monte 911 Project

white with gold lettering and rims (ala 3.0 RS) or a yellow with black combo. Always classic on the old 911.

    Off enjoying my car...

    Re: Monte 911 Project

Awesome, already looking forward to follow the build process of your car. Regarding colours, that is a difficult one and very subjective. I really like that shade of blue, with both black or golden accents but considering both the standard colour for RS and RSR models as well as the Egyptian flag, wouldn´t it be more appropriate to use white as a base colour with red accents? Combined with the black trim (window frames, door handles) that is featured on the donor car, the car should look stunning and very purposeful. And it might be even easier to repaint after some minor dents...

    kiss

    Re: Monte 911 Project

Not a huge fan of Walker´s signature modifications (although they are interesting) but the sound is intoxicating... If your car is only remotely related to that...

    Re: Monte 911 Project

Love the Martini blue or the grey. Keeping in mind the car will see more sunshine then clouds I guess the Martini suits its natural habitat much better!

    Re: Monte 911 Project

Issue # 92 of Total 911 magazine had a nice article on a tribute to the first 911 rally car, the 1965 Rallye Monte Carlo car, built on an original 1964 911. In fact, the Monte car was Porsche's first 911 "race" car.

    Re: Monte 911 Project

I would go for the grey, but could live with the blue, white, yellow, green, black indecision

i somehow fancy the idea of White with golden lettering and golden wheels. Retro in a Kind of way.

I do like that color combination, but personally it would really be awesome if instead of the 'Carrera' script; you would use the 'PORSCHE' block lettering. In that color combo, it would be awesome IMHO.  Smiley
