Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

    Hi there,

Happy New Year to you all. My UK dealer has confirmed build date as the last week in Jan 2005 - anyone else have the same build week ?

For UK delivery, my dealer confirms delivery to the UK dealer within 2 to 3 weeks from build. I plan to take delivery on 1st March 2005 (our new registration month in the UK).

    Regards
    Prashan

Not long to go now! Had my S for 3 months and it is fantastic -you won't regret your decision!

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

I had an Estimated Completion Date (PRDEST) of 1/10/05 then they slipped it to 1/18/05....Darn
Wait, wait wait and then wait a little longer

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

Thanks for this as I can now ask the dealer specifically what the PRDEST is....

    Prashan,

I know the feeling, my OPC has confirmed my build completion date of 17 Jan for my 987S, so they're tightening the last couple of bolts now

Keep an eye out for the first UK Rennteam meet coming soon... well after I've put a few miles on and wiped the manic grin off my face.

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

I am getting p***d off. Everyone knows when their bloody cars are being delivered except me. I ordered it in Sept 03, put a deposit down in Dec 03, specced it Sept 04 with the second deposit and all I am being told is that build is "Feb 05". They won't know for another 2 - 3 weeks when the car is being built, much less delivered.

Their is a rumour coming from the Valmet plant in Finland that there is a delay on my car because some weirdo with a Danish accent was seen running off with my wheels

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

Prashan, My builds in Feb with a March delivery.
    Who's your dealer?

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

Rich - sounds great - I'll be there if its after March the 1st....else, I will have to come and look at your gorgeous cars in my Pounds2000 Mazda that I bought has an interim car to take me to work and back....

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

My dealer is Porsche Cambridge - "dreamcar" - don't worry, even my dealer doesn't know exactly when the build will be complete - it simply shows Jan 2005 as the build date.

In my case, I wouldn't mind the car being built as late as possible so that I can take delivery on the 1st March with the car not spending too much time at the dealership

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

Cheers, Prashan. Yes i would like mine for 1st March, well at least the 1st week of March. I have a week's leave left which I must take by the end of March and I don't want to take it and spend the time thinking about my new baby. I WANT my new baby.

Hope you dont mind me asking, but why Cambridge....so far from London

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

I ordered my 997S from Porsche, West London in August 2004 and received confirmation that it was being built in December 2004. I took delivery of the car last week. Seems odd how much these deliveries vary - I actually didn't initially want my car until March 1st, but once it arrived, I couldn't resist getting my hands on it.

Re: Finally, my build week gets closer - last week Jan 2005

I chose Cambridge as I know the Dealer Principal from a previous car deal - I bought a Boxster 2.7 from Belgium saving c Pounds10k in Dec 1999. After 6 months use, Porsche Cambridge bought the car from me and I made a Pounds2k profit - no nonsense dealer - simply turned up with a cheque to collect my car.

I'm not a fan of my local dealer in St Albans - when I originally approached them, they quoted me a 12 to 18 month wait. When they realised I work for an oil major (who they supply a large number of cars to) and that I had already placed an order with Cambridge, miraculously, a build slot for delivery before end of 2004 became available - I don't like dealers who play this sort of game.

March 1st Delivery works out better for me as I can get the extras I wanted - e.g. short shift gear stick, chrome pipes, etc

You must mean Hatfield PO, there actually supplying my car, everythings fine so far.
So you made a profit on your last car...well done.
Lets hope for strong residuals on our cars
