It seems that you should not have ended the test at around 250kph

    We did a comparison of a stock 996TT (x50, i.e. 450hp) and a BMW M6 very recently.

The result was that both cars show nearly identical acceleration up to 250kph (while the TT driver has a hard time to change gears quick enough to match the shifting speed of the M6).

Beyond 250kph the 996TT was slightly quicker, leaving the M6 behind.

BTW: Our findings also have a rather unfavourable implication for Techart products

In one of the videos posted by The Hawk a 510hp Techart TT was as quick as the M5.

I.e. 450 official Porsche hp are enough to beat 507 BMW hp. But 510 Techart hp just deliver the same perdormance as 507 BMW hp...

    Fahrleistung
    Beschleunigung
    0-100 km/h 3,9 s
    0-200 km/h 12,9 s
    Vmax 323 km/h

Those are the numbers for the 530 HP Techart car. Pretty damn weak if you ask me...

    I totally agree!

For comparison: RStuning offers a GT2 based version of the 540hp kit. sportauto tested this car. The numbers where (approximately):

    0-200 slightly above 10.5 seconds
    0-300 in 28 seconds

That is a huge difference to the 530hp Techart. In fact the Techart is only as fast as a standard X50 up to 200kph...

A stock Mk2 GT2 will beat it pretty badly...

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

I was there when we drove M6 vs 911 turbo and M5 vs Gt3 and M6 vs M5. This weekend we also drove against cars and the only cars to beat the M6 was a modifed Viper GTS and a 911 RUF with 550 hp.

Well, the 996TT included in your test was the old 420hp version.

We tested the x50 version with 450hp (identical to the current 996TTS). And this car is faster than the M6 above 250kph. Below 250kph it has the same acceleration.

So you do not need a 550hp RUF to beat the M6

Good to know that. Although one does feel a bit queasy, needing a top-of-the-line (well, almost) Porsche to beat luxo-sedans and coupés... Then again, they're planning to put slicks onto the 1800 kg M6. What's next? A 747 wing mounted on the rear deck?*

    * on second thought, the wing MIGHT help with the aesthetics of the rear decklid

All I can say to you, dont expect all X50 to win all the races against M6's. I wont say anything more about it, you just have to figure that out by yourself what I mean

I cannot follow you at all

My car is 100% original Porsche. My car has the extended Porsche warranty which is only given to cars without ANY modifications

    Re: M6 vs 500 hp RS4 vs 996 Turbo

Dont worry, I believe you. All Im saying dont expect a X50 to win 10/10 everytime there is a race with a M6. You win some, you lose some.
Next time you race, bring your camera with you
