    Re: C7 S now online @ Autocar

Nice! Beats the 997 around the 'Ring! I really hope the clubsport version comes to the US...

    Re: C7 S now online @ Autocar

Although it has a "mere" 300hp. the article reads that this is a serious drivers car. They also infer that the PASM will also alter the throttle response like Sport Chrono does. It looks good!

A 'serious' drivers car should also be able to be used 'seriously' on the road. With that in mind,I
hope it comes with full insturmentation, a space
saver spare wheel/tire, a oil dip stick and a 'serious"
set of tow hooks hidden front and back.

So many of todays best sports cars seem only practical within urban areas, and that takes away peace of mind on long trips or blasts out in the country.

    Re: C7 S now online @ Autocar

I hope these guys know what they are talking about, if yes, I am going to like it alot! Especially the clubsport version,
something compareable to Lotus Elise, from Porsche! Great! But where the hell stands C7(S) for???

    Re: C7 S now online @ Autocar

I hope it comes under 2,800#, without RMS problems and a dry sump (mini GT3 engine?)...

    Re: C7 S identity problem

The "C7" nomenclature is "owned" by Chevrolet.

The new Corvette model is named the C7. So what is Autocar
thinking, and if and or, Porsche thinking?

Now if Chevrolet launched a "911" model Corvette,
im sure that Porsche's US lawyers would get busy
real quick. Likewise, I'm sure that GM's army of
attorneys is already looking at this. Things in
the press dont go unnoticed at that level.

I bet it will be named something other than C7S.

    Re: C7 S identity problem

The new Vette is the C6 and it is only an internal name (like 987). Neither the Vette nor the Boxster coupe will market a car as a C7(S), so there is no problem...

    Re: C7 S identity problem

the C7S is an internal designation, just like 997, 996,

    whatever,

it looks like this will be pitched as a high end lotus elise?

    Re: C7 S identity problem

If, as I hope, we're going to see a lightweight pure driver's coupe (mit full-size spare tire) as only Porsche can do it, then this model deserves an entirely new designation; not Coupester, as I've called it myself.

Since Porsche is toeing, or has exceeded 1000 in their Project Number list--Boxster is 987, 911 is really 997--then I would think they'd distinguish this new car with a number above 1000. They could pick some suitably obscure, yet notable number such as 1007; we could refer to it as the Porsche 'Ten-Seven'.

    Re: C7 S identity problem

Sorry for the C6/C7 nomenclature error. I am not a Corvette
    afficianado.

    Re: C7 S identity problem

perhaps porsche will use letters inside the model designation, as they have with the cayenne, / 9PA / 955, or whatever they call it.

    Re: C7 S now online @ Autocar

I laughed my pants off when I read this article.

The difference is that you can't copyright a number. That's the reason why Intel came out with the Pentium intead of the 586.

The 997 comes with the softy standard suspension and should be heavier, so the 3.4L 300HP C7S with its PASM or stiffer traditional suspension should have no problem beating the 997 at the ring IMO, not to mention Hockenheim. Look how much faster the 997S-PASM is compared to the 997 at the ring, 13 seconds difference! thats as much as the -20mm 997S vs the GT2. The C7S should be somehwere in between the 997S and the 997, and should be quite fun to drive.
But as much as I would like it to be true, I don't belive that we will see a Clubsport Version at all

    Why's that RC?

There are some interesting and promising things in that article. Are you telling that our hopes for a real "drivers car" are useless?
