    Re: My Proposed Spec

    Very nice car. Congrats kiss

Did you a comparision/testdrive between X71 and PASM before order?
How is the standard AC working? (you didn't opt for the 2-zone AC, right?)
..and more pics please, of course. Thanks

Beautiful car, congratulations - my ideal Porsche Smiley I've been playing with the Configurator and if you specify the black GTS exterior package you can't have the roll bars in exterior colour - are the roll bars gloss black as well? Smiley Thanks! Smiley

zoom in to the roll bars on the configurator after you have selected the GTS EXterior Package Black, and you will see the roll bars painted black.

You can then deselect the package and see the roll bars go back to plastic.

Thanks for that Smiley - in the package description it doesn't mention the roll bars...

"Painted black (high-gloss): air intake at front, front spoiler, lower section of exterior mirror, air intake in rear side section and rear apron"

    Re: My Proposed Spec

    Jesse-

I did drive a 981S with PASM on 20s in sport mode, but it was too soft for me. If you're trying to decide, I say you just have to test drive them all. Driving on marginal quality roads with X73 creates a fair amount of "force transmission" to the back of your seat, but it does not result in any type of instability of the body or steering rack. I prefer the "tactile reality" of the X73. But my longest drive most days is 20-30 minutes with 75% at 70+ mph. If you are planning to drive a  lot in town, it may better to try PASM. I'm sold on X73 completely.

As for standard AC, most of my driving is alone, and I am more concerned about air flow volume than overall temperature, so I tend to get little benefit from auto AC, as I seem to adjust the fan speed all the time anyway. For me, standard is preferable for this reason, but when my wife has to be in the car with me (and that's more often now since she likes it) it can be a problem getting both us to be comfortable with temp/fan speed.

    Dreamcar-

The rollbars are gloss black. Frankly, I think the front spoiler pieces in gloss are more impactful than the rollbars, because the canvas top has a different reflectivity (as it should) so the overall effect with the top down is a little less coherent. The contrasting rhodium and gloss back on the front of the car is more effective since there are alternating layers of silver and gloss black, if that makes sense.

Sorry for the short replies, still lots of work to do tonight. Thanks for all the nice comments! I am thoroughly enjoying the car!

Many thanks for your reply Smiley

Whilst I convince myself to commit to a GTS, it would have to be a "not too many  frills" spec - is PTV Porsche Torque Vectoring - worth having, as I'm unlikely to ever track the car? Will I notice the benefit in everyday driving? Thanks.

    Re: My Proposed Spec

That's a difficult question to answer. Let me say that I ordered PTV because with my 987 I would sometimes find that accelerating out of corners I could create some instability, and I hoped PTV would minimize this. The issue is that since the track width of both axles and the overall wheelbase are different for the 981 (vs 987), and since I have X73 now, I can no longer easily quantify PTV's impact. Too many variables changed at once.

I will say that I no longer feel any looseness when I accelerate out of a tight corner, but I just don;t know if PTV is fully responsible or not.

I probably would order it again, just because I am very pleased with the car's behavior, and can't be certain of PTV's importance. Lame answer right?

    Re: My Proposed Spec

I had a 981S without PTV for 4 months and drove it about 4500 miles.

Not once, even in very spirited road driving (in the Alps) did I wish I had LSD.

What I did wish I had was PASM, as the suspension was too soft when really pushing on. I suspect X73 would have eliminated this.

    Re: My Proposed Spec

Thanks for your replies - if I order one in order to justify I wouldn't order anything that I didn't really want, and eliminate the nice to have options.
