    Enjoy dear friends…Smiley

Don’t know for you, but this underneath made my day. Porsche proved that this is a real milestone in the automotive history.

Someone German, please to summarize the main highlights…

    P.S. Taken from GCF:

    Only one clear lap (w/o traffic) at the Ring - 7,13;

0-300km/h - 19,1 sec with windy conditions. 18-ish possible according to them. Factory stat is 19,9sec...

    etc, etc... I'm speechless... heart

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

absolute stunner - what a car

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

Now I want the 918 even more... laugh

Maybe I should start a donation campaign on Rennteam. smiley

Wonderful machine, it will be very very difficult to top this performance and yes, I am aware of the LaFerrari and the P1.

Meh... enlightened  Nice car and I really like the design, but i still don't get it why there should be a e-drive mode on a car like that. yes

I like Ferrari's approach a lot more. No stupid environmental freindly e-drive stuff, just pure performance orientated.  I'd like a LaFerrari with the looks of the 918 indecision

Because Ferrari does not need to build eco cars. Porsche will have to and hence they introduce eco in the top model to get it accepted by the masses. Now all other models can be marketed as having inherited the e-drive from the mighty 918 Smiley

LOL! i think you are spot-on.  It's nothing but a marketing trick...

@RC: 960 should indeed be a lot more to my likings, but I'd still prefer a true 928 successor I guess.

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

The 918 is not relevant as a car but more of a showcase of Porsche engineering prowess and alternative technologies. It satisfies this remit extremely well and my compliments to Weissach.

The P1 and LaFerrari are also irrelevant for all intents and purposes and additionally they don't have anything new to offer. They are just superfast cars that suit some types of tracks. Next, you can put a body over a F1 car or legalize a LMP1 racer and go even faster round circles. So what? yes

918 allowed porsche to reduce an average co2 emissions of their model range. For them as for larger manufacturer it is important.

I leave for the office every day right around 6:30am. I would love the ability to get out of my quiet neighborhood without waking anyone before I unleased the hell hounds on the main street. For that alone I love the idea of an e-drive.

    Markus,

Be serious. Data about fuel consumption are let s say it overoptimistic...

Performace are great but, for this kind of price tag I would not accept any less.

In the AMS test above, there are two AMS consumption figures (ams-Verbrauchsrunde and ams Profil) , which are very economical at 8.1l and 4.0 l.

I don't know if they are simulated or real test values Smiley

Forget the fuel consumption - this is the fastest production car ever with real world proof about that! smiley

What is the point of making just another low volume super fast car. There are so many around these days from Paganis to Ferraris and Koenigeggs

I view this car as a statement of advanced engineering, no matter whether this will be the future or not.

    Isn't 7.13 a bad lap time?

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

    SciFrog:

    Isn't 7.13 a bad lap time?

It is an excellent lap time. You need to understand the difference between factory test drivers and car journalists or even amateur drivers. More than 20 seconds less than the already excellent 991 Turbo S...not bad at all.

You guys are spoiled by fantasy numbers on the internet, achieved by test drivers or professional race car drivers and factory claims which never have been certified officially.

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

I thought Sport Auto super test were only 3-5s slower than factory tests... Maybe it has changed.

20s faster than CGT... in 10 years and double the price. Half of the time saved is probably from tires. Not sure if it is impressive or not.

10s faster than the 997 GT2 RS with 280 more hp...

Re: 918 Spyder WS Pack-AMS Supertest!

Well, it is a game of diminishing return...

For every single second improvement you need to an exponential effort and investment. You are getting closer and closer to the limits set by the laws of physics. PASM, PTV, PSM, PDK, rear-wheel steering, etc. cannot bend these laws, only close the gap to the limit. At some point in the future all cars will converge to the optimum minimum time
