3 years is too much to wait:)))

The visual facelift may come earlier, the technical one not. Smiley

So I would definitely get a Turbo S now

What is the maximus psi level of new turbo s with and without overboost?

I just know that the overboost raises the boost pressure by 0.15 bar on both models but I don't have the base values yet, sorry. Maybe someone else? Smiley

RC, you should get a red one with black wheels. Classic RC turbo style.

Smiley Smiley Good one but red is way too flashy for my neighborhood. My neighbors just got used to my many different expensive cars over the years, a red 991 Turbo S would kill them. Smiley Also my son wants a black Turbo (he loved the 911 Turbo and never forgive me for giving it away...), so I guess I have no choice. Smiley

KresoF1, what are your impressions on acceleration figures?

I am very pleased with new Turbo. New Turbo S will be ny next sportcar.
Btw, are some people here serious about price comparison?
MP4-12C with same options as 991 Turbo S would cost 70K Euroore I'm Germany!

Also old R8 V10 + is no comparison IMO since it is slower on the Ring then 991 CS.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

In the US a high spec TTS will be 190-200. You can't get your hands on a 458 for less than 260-270... Even Californias are 230-250.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

When they say they arrive on the market at the end of September 2013 does that mean when they can be ordered or they can be ordered now and deliveries start at then end of September?

Based I what I have read and pictures of the 991TT, I am ecstatic I am on the list for the GT3.

My dealer has an offer for me ready by Monday, so the car is already in the order system over here in Germany. It also seems that the new Turbo will be available for delivery end of September, more likely October though.

What worries me a little bit is the technical difference of the engine in both cars: There doesn't seem to be one. Smiley Smiley So if the 40 horses difference are achieved by software only... Smiley Yes, the Turbo S is fully loaded but still...there is a price gap of aprox. 15k EUR (may be slightly less or slightly more, haven't done a precise calculation yet) between both. 15k EUR for a different software only? Hmm... Smiley Let's wait and see, maybe I get more technical details by next week.

This question of engines technical difference is also very interesting to me... If there is any in engine and gearbox...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I don't understand Porsche marketing. They announce the 991TT today and begin to take orders for delivery later this year. Apparently dealers have received allocations.

Yet the GT3 was announce almost three months ago and dealers have not been given any information as when they get their allocations, take orders or approximate delivery dates. Why is this? Is it because parts for the GT3 will not be available until later this year?

It is because of the different price strategies of Porsche vs Ferrari in US.

In Germany, 458 italia starts from 168K euro, without VAT. It used to be 163K euro before 7-year maintenance pack.

On the other hand in Germany 90K euro Carrera S is 90.000usd in the States.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I cannot pin point it, but the new Turbo/Turbo S just doesn't seem to look quite right. I am not sure what it is but they don't look too 911 to me, on one of the press photo the white car over a cliff with the door open showing the interior I thought I was looking at a Cayman.

I am sure the performance will be amazing again but I am glad I didn't wait for it and bought a McLaren instead.

the lower front rectangularish light unit looks like it escaped from the pre facelift Panamera, got slightly squashed/damaged in the process, and has ended up unaltered in the 991 Turbo and Turbo S ...

A powerkit for the Turbo S? Porsche should pick this idea up...even more money for options.

I talked to "somebody" on the phone a couple of minutes ago and apparently, there is a technical difference between the Turbo and Turbo S engines but he couldn't elaborate more because he didn't have details. Not sure if this is accurate though because I ask myself: If there would be a difference, wouldn't Porsche advertise it? Well...I guess we have to wait a little bit longer to learn the truth.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I'm a bit torn.. like it, but not overwhelmed. Have you seen the "Turbo S" badge in the front spoiler that you clearly can see in the below image. Seems like porsche have gone the Audi root there (quatto badge in the front on RS6 and RS7). Wonder if this is a turbo S feature only Smiley

    normal-1.jpg

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Also noticed that there is a button for PDCC in the console. New feature compared to the PDCC-option in the carrera models where it was not possible to turn it on/off... Seems to have replaced the pasm-button

Can answer my own question.. same on the Turbo with the model description integrated in the front spoiler as seen in this image

Yep, the side intake shape lets it down.

I've been told that the car looks much better in reality and since I have seen just a camoflaged mule a while ago, this remains to be seen. So far, the car on the photos doesn't really bother me, it is the typical evolution of the 911 Turbo but I am surprised with two things: 1. the somehow "here I come" butt but the pretty calm front and 2. the fact that the only visual difference between the Turbo and Turbo S seems to be the mirrors.

What I care most however is the technical differences between the Turbo and Turbo S. If the only difference is the ECU software, I am deeply disappointed with Porsche. Honestly.

The mirrors is just an option and could be had on the turbo as well. Sport mirrors for 500EUR.

very interesting to know the actual technical difference except the ECU software.

May be different VTG turbo-chargers? or different engine camshaft head? or different PDK gearing or settings? or different intake? or different intercoolers?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Well, I like it but on the pictures it doesn't look overwhelming ... the back will be impressive when seen in person, but it somehow lacks elegance (for those who are old enough think of the impression the Ferrari Testarossa made from the back when it came out).  The front is quite nice on the other hand.

In a way it is somehow what was expected for a Turbo model change. Although I haven't seen it in person yet, I think the GT3 has better proportions and looks nicer than the Turbo.

But the Turbo will be the ultimate all road/all weather machine as usual!!
