    Re: 520, 560, 660hp upgrades for the 997 Turbo!!

    Guys,

I say stop "ragging" on AUM. Sure, we all benchrace to a certain degree-I don't need to testdrive a CaymanS to know that it is certainly underpowered for my tastes. Besides, his heart is in the "right" place for wishing for a 997TT with more power, less weight, tighter and lower suspension, and less strangled exhaust.

Apropos of nothing, the 6speedonline 9ff thread states that 9ff's "test" 997TT was a "pre-production" 997TT "loaned" from Porsche complete with "factory camouflage" from an "un-named source."

    Is this Zuffenhausen's "Deep Throat?"

Does this mean that I might be able to "factory order" a 997TCab next year with the "9ff ZO6 Slayer" Option?

Perhaps those 997TT's RC heard during testing were 9ff test mules, rather than tuned Porche mules.

    Re: 520, 560, 660hp upgrades for the 997 Turbo!!

Maybe one mule too many Al.

Until convinced otherwise I denounce the quest for more power for the 997TT as absolutley silly vanity. Its got plenty now I think. But using it all effectively is the real need.

You could probably get lower lap times with a stock TT by just paying Walter R or HvS 10K for a weekend of private coaching and still have a factory warranty.

    Just a suggestion.

    Now there's an idea...

    So true.

Here's the deal for me...one of the most important things about a car is how much longitudinal g it can produce...the more the better. It takes more power to produce more g, therefore I seek more power...

And I find straight line power to be very easy to use effectively.

well, I won't denounce anybody for wanting more power

but for me, the current car is just perfect - there is nothing I would do to change it(other than perhaps and enhanced exhaust). Anyone who lives in the U.S., intends to use the car mostly for street driving and ordered the sportchrono, I defy you to use the 10 sec boost in an even close-to-legal-speed manner. I tried yesterday on an empty stretch of the Garden State Parkway and after a few seconds I was in NJ State Trooper "shoot first and apologize afterwards" territory.

I think PDK is cool but once you have 500hp in a street car, for street use, what would you really gain realistically except bragging rights and a bigger price?

I echo your sentiments. I'm soooo happy with the six speed.

The on-ramp to an Interstate that has a 70 mph speed limit...WOT in 1st and 2nd gears and the driver has used overboost to the maximum that it is available in those gears.

And power does not have to be used to the full of it's availability for it none the less to be used and enjoyed.
