I ordered the Turbo S in Basalt black. This photo of Basalt looks amazing!

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

As you can see, the car is easily mistaken for a regular 991 from the side (trust me, you won't see the side vents immediately in real life).

Interesting, German cars pulling into a Rotterdam parking garage... that's not too far from where I live... need to find out... need to find out :-)

there is no way i can think this is a normal c2 or c4

even with black .... i agree it hide alot of the car ....but mistaken for a regular one no way :)

I saw several black and dark blue cars from the side and I always thought they are normal 991 Carrera, so yes...it can easily be mistaken for a Carrera because directly from the side, you can barely see the side inlets. If you want a stealth look, these colors are the best to go with. For me, this is a bit too much stealth. Smiley

Speaking of Rotterdam: Isn't there supposed to be a big "Turbo event" in August somewhere? Maybe they were shipping the cars from Rotterdam or there is/was some sort of smaller event in NL for good customers and/or the press?

On a dark car the edges of the side intakes could be painted in a  lighter colour like silver, red, orange, like the 987 intakes and the GT3 RS front.

This is actually an interesting idea. Maybe Porsche should offer some sort of color option for the side intakes? Smiley

Carbon could work. For the standard version the plastic should just be bit more recessed and hence less visible...

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

How is the carbon exterior trim repaired, if at all? How resilient it is?

I presume that if the car is put in real use, carbon wouldn't last more than 10 minutes before it became scratched or damaged from stones, road debris, insects etc. during a 200+ km/h run.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

The vents and maybe the mirrors in carbon...as some sort of Turbo S differentiation from the Turbo. Could be interesting. The carbon side vents were available for the GT2 RS and they looked quite nicely.

Parts of the video have been shot in Nevada near Lake Mead, so maybe somewhere in Nevada? The snow however kind of doesn't fit. Smiley Rocky Mountains maybe?

I do not like the video, it is the typical Porsche advertisement I cannot really rely to. Or like my son says...bla bla bla. Smiley As a potential customer, I want to see the car, how it drives, how it sounds, how it behaves.

Sorry, always had problems with Porsche ads, the only one I liked was the 991 Cab ad with that family.

Having all the lettering removed from the rear is a must on the Turbo. Too many digits squeezed in a limited space.

BTW this blue suits the Turbo.

    image.png

One of the best colours for the Turbo...

Is it just me, or does the turbo now look massively wide especially the rear?  I will be interested if this car, once in owners hands, now starts to feel almost as impractically wide and more difficult on narrow lanes / streets as the Italian exotica that is often accused of this.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Yes, the new Turbo/Turbo S is quite wide in the rear, wider than even the Carrera 4/4S models. I doubt however that this is going to be a serious problem, the car is very nimble and feels quite quirky, I don't see any issues regarding it's width.

Is the rear wider than the GT3?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

GT3, C4/C4S have the same rear, Turbo,TurboS and GT3RS will have the bigger rear

So this means the Turbo and RS will have "almost" the same width as Carrera GT?

Exactly - that is what I mean; width is width and being nimble in handling does not get around the physical dimensions. Of course, this is only an issue for those who regularly drive on narrow streets or English B roads and the like.  If all your  Porsche ever sees is new and wide highways, an ever-wider 911 is not a problem.

But then again, we KNOW the carbon pieces will be coming, possibly on a new GT2RS?
