I thought about it, but it will be too much of the accent colour or my taste. So I kept it in silver and put the yellow on the R on the badge.

The car is basically black with silver (wheels lips, script, stitching, the houndstooth seat insert)

So my 911R finally shows up at my dealership after almost 2 months in 'transit'.

This is actually the first time I have seen it with the proper wheels on.

Since I took a pic of the gauges when i let the car in Germany, I know exactly how much mileage they put on the car. Between the Porsche people in Germany, Canadian Customs, transportation personal, they put on a total of 11km.indecision

I also left the car with a 1/4 tank of fuel without the fuel light coming on, but when it gets here the tank is basically bone dry, lights on and the needle barely above the stop.

11 km is a lot ..... hopefully they were done at Porsche , there parking lots are huge ...

Your car looks good  ,,,, but I would get rid of those orange blinkers and put the european ones and I find the PORSCHE decal in silver to stand out too much . As you went for black on black, why not also make that sticker part in black .

The amber corner lights are already gone by delivery haha. First pic was when it got of the truck, I took delivery late afternoon.

This morning I took it out to for a morning breakfast run with the local PCA. About 60 cars showed up. Believe it or not, my car is not the unicorn, well it sort of is but there is something more rare and valuable that showed up for the run. a 1996 993 GT2! Low mileage too, just under 30,000km.

As it doesn't say GT2 on the back, most people passed over it and go straight to my car, thinking it was just a 993 with those RWB body kit Smiley

I on the other hand went straight to his!

Funny you should mention this. I have been sorely tempted by this of late:

    But the pricing is insane.

here it is, no one is even looking at it Smiley

You are correct the pricing is insane, especially clean ones that hasn't been raced before. And the EVOs are even higher still. I think the price will have some support as there aren't that many made in the first place, and clean cars are far and few in between. Back in time no one thought of them as investment vehicles, they were just 'race cars' for the street.

I know someone who is really into these things, he actually has 3 of them, one is being restored in Germany and has information on many more.

But is it worth 35% more than an F40 or 1.75x the list of your 918?

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

That DK Eng website is also something I hate in the current market: everything is £POA. If you don't know the real market price of your car, you shouldn't be in the business.

Depends on how one look at them.

It was made in much smaller numbers than the F40 and the 918, so the rare part is there.

People right now are just going through Porsche's production history and find cars that are produced in small batches and bid them up crazy. Hell soon they might move onto 993 Targa Smiley

but it's debatable how significant it is in Porsche's history. The F40 and the 918 holds a significant place respectively as a comparison. Yes it is the first of the GT2 name, but it doesn't carry a GT2 badge on the car, but the race car version did win it's class in Le Mans in 97.

It is normal for the freight company to drain the gas tank due to fire concerns when shipping cars overseas.

I've shipped cars over the pacific several times and they always drained the tank.

    Cheers,

What's the significance of the 993 GT2 that makes it $2M?

Last and baddest air-cooled 911. Very small numbers made (around 170 I think). Lots of racing success.

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

Well it surely not because of its design... Exterior or interior... angry quite an ugly exterior vs the regular 993 and 993 TT and all their interior are none to remember.

This price is wrong for these cars but have you ever drove one?

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

Nope. Not really into these kinds of cars. I'm an 80s kid, so these were long gone by the time I grew up.

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

Congrats Nick - great looking 991R!

Regarding the missing fuel in the tank. Isn't it that you have to empty the tank for transportation?

    Enjoy that beast!!!

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

Yeah but they pump it drier than even how Porsche normally ship their new cars out laugh

Here is the first pic of the 2 #713 together.

Yeah it's at my dealership, the 911R returned to get prep or a car rally Saturday while the 918 went back to get some trouble shooting on engine fault codes. My Turbo 3.6 is also there, waiting on parts from Porsche Classic. mail

Just as quickly, I have 3 spots opened in the garage at home, if temporarily. smiley
