There is always something quite amazing about these restorations . You now see basically just a peace of steal with a shape , not very appealing . And one day, when finished it will be so beautiful and seem like it has always been like that.

work in Progress......however, I have decided to not join the monte coming january. it is getting too tight with the Training I had planned to do and with the Situation in egypt, while now improving, has kept me from focusing too much on the monte issue for the time being...therefore will join in 2015 and that will leave more time to finish a perfect car and also plenty of time for Training and maybe joining smaller Events first.DSC_0538.jpgPorsche2.jpg

    Re: Monte 911 Project

    update:

its been a couple of years....time flew by with all the issues we've been going through here.

I am now back into completing the project and planning to join along my brother in the Road to Saigon Rally in February of 2018.

Its a 27 day event that will take us from Singapore to Saigon.

I am just awaiting confirmation from endurorally organisators that the car is in fact eligible to join as the event is for pre 1977 cars and this 911 is 12/77....

How much more do you have to work on... are the last pictures on this thread showing the current state of the car? Great, great project... the car must be a lot of fun.

What kind of training have you planned for yourself to get ready for those rallies?

Congratulations Smiley Looking forward to more news and photos. Lovely part of the world and as others have said, the food is amazing.

    Re: Monte 911 Project

yes, that is the current state....I will rebuild it to fairly standard spec. more ground clearance but basically original spec.

I will look into what courses might be available once car is finished. but bearing in mind, that this is more of a gentlemens rally with some special stages, it does not require rally driving skills. more important is how to read a roadbook and use a tripmaster.

Smiley Smiley You get used to it fast. When I first started with this hobby (rally sport), I didn't understand the need of the co-pilot. Actually, I was pretty arrogant and thought they are useless. Until I saw the times I achieved with and without co-pilot during testing. Amazing difference. Huge respect for these people because they really need to be precise, adapt to the driver and his particular craziness (I was so concentrated on driving that I initially didn't pay attention to the voice, until he started to adapt to my attention span and spoke certain words and numbers in a certain vocal melody, so I would be much better aware of...really amazing job!). My co-pilot is actually the one I feel very sorry for because I ended my career so fast. He didn't find a job for a year or so and was basically on welfare for that time. Smiley
