    I didn't buy a 918 so couldn't get a 911R at prices that makes sense for me.  I like to drive my cards and am not a collector.  A 911R as a daily would be a lot of fun.

    Just had a look at the new car - very nice. Rear styling/spoiler changes are pretty subtle. I prefer the new front - looks very neat. Rear diffuser is quite big and looks like it will be a 'service item'. Plastic vanes though so should be cheap.

    Here is the one under my 911R after the road trip.

    It is a $600 plastic part. One reason Porsche is being realistic and didn't do it in carbon like other manufacturers.

    If it was carbon, then it would be $6k. :D

    The rear diffuser on my Lotus is much bigger than that, but made of aluminum.  Wears pretty nicely.  The track guys won't use the fancy pre-preg carbon diffusers even though they save a decent amount of weight.

    Bingo. This includes the fabled GT3 Cabrio which would kill the high margin GTS.

    Of course it does... And for one person like me giving their money somewhere else, Porsche sells 10 super high margin non GT car... They are the ones laughing to the bank, until they push it too far in prices.

    I bet you'd be surprised how close the margins are on a GTS vs a GT3. The GT3 is not some marketing expense. I probably have equal or better margins that a GTS.

    Without the GT3 engine the 911 is a joke. The fact that it exists and being able to get one is a myth or near impossible is sad. Can you tell I'm frustrated with all the dealers who flat admit the car is impossible to get.

    Leawood, pick your dealer, put your name in and wait. While waiting, scan the auto ad and you'll probably seen a couple for sale within three months. Yes, they'll be over MSRP but if you negotiate well you could get a good price.kiss

    My R8's carbon rear diffusor is over 4k EUR, even aftermarket parts cost over 3k. The carbon rear wing is over 4k EUR as well, the engine carbon covers are around 5k and the front lip over 2k. Sideblades are over 1k each.

    Expensive! The Porsche solution is definitely the "better"(cheaper) one, even if it is only plastic and costs "only" 600 EUR.

    Some German Porsche dealers stopped taking GT3 orders...so... Smiley The 2017 allocation is sold out in many places and there is no 2018 allocation yet, not even sure if there is going to be one. Probably why some dealers here in Germany stopped taking in orders.

    The problem is that Porsche can only build a certain number of cars and dealers get only a certain number of allocations. Once they exceed the build capacity and/or allocations...game over. Yes, I am pretty sure that there are going to be 2018 allocations as well but the 2017 allocations are basically (almost) gone according to rumors and if the 2018 allocations are limited, well...

    I'm not saying you're not right but whoever really wants one, should take care of that now and not wait.

    Without relying on rumours about filled allocations and limited production numbers I believe it is safe to say that this will be the most produced GT3 in the history of all GT3s. Add to that a possible touring version which will attract new customers. Porsche is in the business of selling cars and the GT3 is their "bread and butter" motorsport model. It would be pointless to make it limited and not meet the demand. Such exercises are left to cars like the R.

    When I mean rumor, I say rumor. Smiley I can talk about the German market only. Different countries, different availabilities and allocations but from my experience, Germany gets always the "best" allocations (even if Porsche may tell other regions a different story Smiley Smiley).

    Production is limited by demand and production time frame only. True. However, they cannot produce endless cars in that particular time frame. This is a problem. Also, a small supplier chain issue (quality, production delay, whatever) can already reduce the number of produced cars.

    So if people want one, they should hurry. This is all I'm saying. If Porsche wakes up that they can sell more GT2 RS than GT3 (which is very unlikely but people have money and you never know...), they could switch production capacities to the more profitable car. Just saying...too many uncertainties and I don't want people to pay a premium for a car which isn't actually a limited special edition. This is however, in my opinion, the most desirable modern GT3 ever.

    Agree. See the DriveTribe interview with Preuninger / Jethro B. They are gonna increase capacity here and explicitly acknowledge they are in the business of making cars not supporting speculation / wealth increase / maintaining values. I have not seen the raw data but understand from a friend with a "R" that Porsche produced over 6000 991.1 GT3 RS's. Have to think a lot of the froth around the GT3.2 is from speculators thinking this is a sure fire way to make a "fifty" or a "hundo" (choose your currency) flipping it, a somewhat risking game I would suggest

    if there will be a .2GT3RS, then it will help off load some customers that want .2GT3 in PDK, and spare some spots for manual orders

    If demand is there and with the price increase, they should produce as many as they can sell. Margins are probably still lower than high specced GTS though.

    just got some intital feedback'for m'y allocation, and i cross checked through 2 sources : the first delivery expected are ......for October !

    this is just ridiculous , it means that the car will arrive during winter time, and there is no rationale to get in 2017 !

    I m really disappointed, as I wanted to pay for a new one, but to get the car during summer time !

    really bad news .... are you getting the same message ?

    October sounds right, late Summer at best. For a car launched in mid-march, the vast majority will not get their car in Summer.

    That's somewhat puzzling. Usually Europe and the ROW get their cars produced in May, June and July if not sooner. September/October build dates usually go to North America. That was how the .1GT3 was rolled out.

    I think your dealer may have been misinformed.

    When I got my RS it was delivered in October. I'm in Sweden.
