Re: New to me 991.1 GT3

the .1 has the same issue, it just takes more time as the redline is lower...

we are getting few engine swap here...as we push the member to go on track and to basically abuse the car.

they do drink oil up to a crazy level as the regular GT3 and then same misfire fault happens with time.

That was interesting and bad news. It would be interesting to know more exact what happened to each car.

I know of a few 991.1 RS's that has done a lot of laps on various tracks with no issues so far: 30.000-40.000 km's on track.

Re: New to me 991.1 GT3

You know the scored shaft and finger followers...as the GT3..1 issue well the same kind of pictures...

    Leawood911:

The .2 is simply a better motor. Makes the .1 less attractive to those who know best. Don’t buy it assuming people will not take that into account when it comes time to sell it. Agreed the RS .1 has a better reputation but it is not th same as the .2 motor which is a gem - so far. Also the 992 coming with n/a motor even hits the price of the .2 since it had been assumed to be the last.   Simply factor this into your offer and don’t look back either way.

Well said, definitely going in with eyes wide open.  It's tempting to look at a .2 GT3 vs a .1 RS just because of the engine.  As the missile and Kobalt are also discussing the engine of the .1 RS seems to be more reliable than the .1 GT3, but still uses the same finger follower tech and so isn't immune to the same issues.  I'm waiting until I return from Japan in March to make my final offer.  If it's gone by then so be it, if not I'll make an offer and if they accept great, if not like you say move on.

I did 23'000 km with my .1  Loads of track use . It did not use any oil ( actually less then my Carrera ) and no other issue whats so ever  .

Re: New to me 991.1 GT3

Went to take another closer look.  Got it up on the lift and checked out everything I could.  Car appears to be in very good shape.  With only 3.5K miles I guess it should be.  If I can get the right price pretty well set on getting it.  Probably put a JCR silenced race exhaust on it at some point.  Another UV RS will be coming in on trade in March so always have another chance at the color I want.CF02534B-4B4B-44FB-AA17-7C09252D60A5.jpeg19B6C531-AD0E-4162-BC99-93E97BE2AE95.jpeg

What about the warranty? Does it come with a factory warranty or Porsche Approved warranty? If not, careful.

It’s certified so has the extended warranty.  Wouldn’t get it otherwise.

Can you elaborate ? I had a quick look at "Porsche Approved" and found the conditions "reasonable". Want to get a GT3 RS but it's not clear if I'll get the honor to spend the money for a new one.

     Thanks Smiley

I would never get a used Porsche without the Porsche Approved warranty. One reason of course is repair cost but another one is that Porsche Approved is often denied for previously tuned/modded cars, so Approved is often a good indicator for a non-tuned, well maintained car. Not always but most of the time.

Porsche approved don't care if you changed your Centerlock nuts or hubs - which is _really_ important on a track driven car.

I also believe that the dealers own used Porsche Approved cars might not be as closely checked at the Porsche workshop.

They are probably more thorough when I come to the shop to get my car approved.

Re: New to me 991.1 GT3

Well talked them down to a price point I'm happy with.  Assuming all goes well should be picking up the RS next week!  Very excited about the change, plan on keeping this one for a while.

Thanks RC, Kobalt.  Also heard, that "Approved" is interpreted differently by different dealers.

Approved has actually fixed rules and doesn't leave any room for interpretation. Not sure if all dealers take this into account but I know that my dealer refuses the Approved warranty for any modded car, even if it is only an exhaust or wheel spacers. Even rims/tires seem to play a role.

Well the deal is done and I'm now the majority shareholder of my dream car.  Plenty of swirls to correct later on.  Now to figure out which JCR exhaust to get!
