Do I have the horor to have the 1st 997S with a blown engine

I have 700 miles on the new engine, and the car runs great. Any minor problems that I have, I ignore. I just don't want to go back to the dealer again. Heck, at this point, I would consider driving with burnt headlights, if it meant not going back.

Funny thing though, more people asked me about the 2 year old rental Jag in the 2 weeks that I drove it, then the Porsche, over the last 3 months. That's fine by me; she's my little duce coupe - you don't know what I've got. I like it that way; Low key, sexy, and dressed in black

    jboyko,

Glad to hear you're back on the road again.....

In NJ a vehicle is considered a Lemon if it has been in the shop 20 cumulative days. On the 22nd day, I sent the required registered letter to Gerri Lumsden, at PCNA in Georgia. I then recieved a call from the dealer in the evening, telling me that the vehicle was ready. I picked up the vehicle and I have been driving it without any major problems. But, it has been 12 days since PCNA had received my Lemon paperwork, and no one from PCNA has responded in the required 10.

I really like this car (except for the Playstation throttle, and the sucky navigation) but, can I really trust this car not to be back in the shop again.

Is there anyone at Porsche that cares about customer service. It really seems that the corporate culture of PCNA is "wait and see", "run and hide", or any combination of the words. Maybe a follow up e-mail, letter, or a phone call from Porsche might make me think that they are standing by their product.

It really makes me sick, thinking that I may have to deal with the Porsche system, if I have another vehicle failure.

After 2200+ miles in my 997, it's the best tranny I've ever had in a Porsche--precise, short throws, tight. My Boxster S had a tranny problem in the 1st year of ownership. I told my dealer. They told PCNA. PCNA told Porsche AG. Porsche AG immediately sent word to replace the tranny and ship it to Germany. They was no argument, no teeth pulling, no games, and that was that. I think this whole story in quotes is disingenuous. jb my recommendation is that you sell the car if you actually have a 997.

I think RC verified that jboyko has a 997 by asking for his VIN.

Thanks. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry, but I can get a VIN by stopping at any dealership. Am I still off?

Believe me I am no fan of jboyko. Read this entire thread and you will see he and I have crossed swords. I don't honestly know if he has a 997. Apparently RC is convinced that he does have a 997 since he has let this thread continue. I certainly feel for anyone who has to have major work done on such a new car. I just think that jboyko has a way of expressing himself that seems to upset people.

I Do have the 1st 997S with a replacement engine.

Phil, once again, I do apologize for my agitating postings. I just did not get the impression from the dealer, the district service manager, or from PCNA, of concern, or immediacy, to repair the vehicle. My past experience has been with MB. My salesman at MB calls me at least twice a year to see how things are going, and if I do have an issue, the salesman will personally drop off a MB loaner (C - S), and pick up my car. Maybe I was expecting too much from PCNA.

I too have had different experiences between our Mercedes dealership and our Porshce dealership. I am treated the way I would think you should be treated by the folks at MB. They make you feel special. If I want to test drive any model MB, they will let me take one for a day or if I don't want to drive to the dealer, they will bring a car to me to test drive. My salesman loaded us up with goodies when we bought the car and has continued to do so. He gave us an updated navigation disc w/o charge and paid for some parts I was purchasing out of his pocket. Service at MB is a breeze and I am always given a nearly new MB loaner car even for an oil change. At the Porsche dealership I didn't even get a free key ring when I bought the car (and I have bought 5 cars from them).

I too would be upset if Porsche never responded to my correspondence about a blown engine. They apparently have not learned the art of excellent customer service.

I Do have the 1st 997S with a replacement engine.

I received from the Porsche dealer a Laurel & Hardy handshake, and my 9 year old son got the 6" - 3 year old Porsche that was sitting on his desk. But hey, I did come just to buy a car.
