I still don't understand the theme of this all. WoPo, WW, HH and Porsche try to take over VW, and we all act surprised and aghast when Pieech defends his company? As much as I hate to say it, it looks like Porsche is getting what it deserved....

Thanks for the post! It's a truly entertaining and informative story -much more interesting than the articles that focus primarily on the financial details. I do believe that the tightening carbon emissions requirements will present themselves as a challenge to small volume performance car companies (any left?), and will work to the advantage of performance car companies that can average their carbon output with a higher volume producer, e.g. Porsche's arrangement with VW. Now Porsche can focus on making great sports cars, which inherently will require more energy and create more byproduct gases than commuter compact cars, no matter what the technology. I do wish the new Porsche-VW group well, and hope that many great products will result from the merger. Hopefully the family itself will work out its differences too. Sounds like success and failure are relative terms, eh?
