. He also likes the sound because it doesn't get annoying on longer trips.

This is true - for example, the 488 is already a bit noisy (engine sound) if driven at 200kph on the Autobahn. In the turbo s you can just cruise and enjoy how calm the car is Smiley

I could never do that but understand when other people do.

You always enjoy loud engine noise when traveling longer distances on the Autobahn Smiley I prefer good music from an excellent sound system in these situations Smiley

Fully agree, while travelling it´s so much better to have silent cabin and a good sound system Smiley

Of course it is nice to listen to the engine when accelerating, braking, accelerating again for quite some time. However, if you set the cruise control to 190 or 200kph on an empty Autobahn (to avoid going faster than necessary) it is just nice to have a more moderate engine noise Smiley

The only time I use cruise control is outside Germany, where there are speed limits. Smiley

The SportAuto Supertest results for the 488GTB are amazing, BTW:

    HHR: 1.07,00

Indeed. CG prised the car as much as possible.

I was also very impressed during two short test drives.

True, very true but I still don't like them. The 488 has the "best" turbo engine on the market in the super sportscars category in my opinion, very little turbo lag, 991.2 Turbo S comes second. Once you went n/a though, there is no easy coming back. Smiley

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77fXlPMsSBo

The car in the video needs approx. 3-4s (!) more between 200kph and 300kph than my car, despite being a coupe. Very strange.

One reason might be that the car was tested in "Sport+" with the different aerodynamic setup. My suspicion would be that some of the magazine tests suffered from the same problem, i.e. those 30s times might be the result of using "Sport+" Smiley

I know what you mean but we had a comparison in Sport mode (with the PAA Speed mode, not Performance mode, driver was afraid of driving in Sport Plus) and the 991.2 Turbo S wasn't faster than my R8. However, both cars performed basically the same, even over 300 kph there wasn't much difference (not surprising since 1 second from 0-300 kph doesn't mean anything in real life, especially in the higher speed range).

It would be interesting to see however how big the difference is between 200 and 300 kph between PAA Speed and Performance mode and if all car magazines test their cars in the sportiest mode available.

True. I did some driving last weekend in my R8 and the ESP came on all the time...even when I was accelerating in straights. Never happened with warmer temperatures, tire temps were around 15°C. Ouch. They are usually over 30°C, even if outside temperature is around 10-12°C. My PZero definitely don't like temperatures below 10°C and your PZero N1 should be even worse. Smiley I assume you have the Sottozeros now on your Turbo S? Pretty good winter tire for such a car.

I just read about a Cw comparison of the turbo s in "Sport+" and "Sport". The key result is that using "Sport" instead of "Sport+" results in 200-300kph times that are approximately 1.5s faster.

That explains the magazine test results where the turbo s did like 30s for 0-300kph. In "Sport" this would be approx. 28.5s - which is again fully consistent with my own GPS tests.

Funny, that car magazines don't realize what they are doing wrong. Even the manual states that the aerodynamics are worse in "Sport+" and that top speed can only be driven in "Sport" for that reason Smiley
