Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

    That's all I could find.
I don't have the latest document, this is an old one from Jan. 2005.

I couldn't find exactly what the SC-Plus option does on the GT3 and also I couldn't find if the GT3 comes as standard with SC. I can only confirm that the SC+ is an option.

I will try to dig more but I don't want to get in trouble

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

thanks for all the details... you have REALLY gone the extra mile but I already knew all this regarding the Carrera (and Carrera S)... but many on this forum (and other forums) claim that the GT3 is always in sports mode, and thus the only use of the Sport Chrono Package is timing laps... that got me confused... I guess I'll just order the Sport Chrono Package, and play it safe

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

I am living in Romania and I really understand your situation. That's why I did it. I could buy any 200K euros car tomorrow but I don't like GTs so my pick any day would be a GT3. Unfortunately the tough winter and the huge potholes that exists in my country are forcing me to stick with the standard Carrera. The PASM and any electronic suspension are having a lot of failures around here and there is no fun in having a cool car if is just sitting in service. Also the 19" rims are more sensitive than the 18" so go figure. I am basically off-roading my C2 all day, all year so the extra 10 mm that the standard susp. is offering also helps.

It's a great car and I love it. If you can go for the GT3 and have fun driving, not cruising (like a GT-Turbo like: leather, sat nav, music and all the other bs) than do it.
Do some heal and toe with a manual, fell the nimble GT3 attacking a corner, keep the almost unreal sensitive feeling of a RWD car (compared with any kind of AWD).
As I said. Drive, don't cruise. And if occasionally a frustrated GT driver (AWD, turbo, tiptronic type of driver) is leaping in front of you, smile, because you can train a monkey these days to drive a GT - my favorite class, the AMG one .

    Take care man,
    Adrian.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

Looks like "the plus" one is only if you have PCM and is giving you in addition (because the PCM has the display), the "lap times" software and also with the plus you can save your personal set up for seat, lights, etc.

Nowhere it says that the Motronic+PSM+PASM settings are coming as standard (or the sport button comes as standard).

Anyway it's a pity that Porsche doesn't offer only the sport button as an option, separate from the ugly (IMO) stopwatch.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

I just asked my local dealer to price me an orange RS with bi-xenon, sport chrono, and foot rest in sport appearance, versus, a Carrera White GT3 with the same options in addition to the Porsche crest embossed in headrest and Sound package plus incl. CD-shelf... price differential should be significant, but it's the trade-in value on my 7 months-old C2S Cab. which will be the decisive factor... hehehe

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

doh! i am jealous! you are lucky you have them available to order.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

well, I gotta make up my mind first, order the car, and wait for a production date

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

looks like I'm not getting a good trade-in deal on my loaded, mint condition, 2006 C2S Cab. with about 2,000 kms on the speedometer... looks like the GT3 or RS purchase is off for now...

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

Options generally do not bring much on resale. If you are worried about recouping an auto investment (which is a bad idea on a new car to begin with), go as light on the options as possible; especially uber-expensive Porsche options!

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

is getting a Carrera S versus the standard Carrera an option? is Cabriolet an option? anyway... I'm disappointed vis-a-vis my trade-in pricing... no GT3 or RS for now...

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

You said "loaded". That implies lots of options. Bummer about not being able to get the GT3/RS. But take comfort that many more people are in that boat than in the "can get one" boat. lol

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

It would appear that the days of low depreciation on Porsches are gone.I asked what my 17000 mile 2 1/2 year old GT3 was worth on trade in and almost fell off my chair when i got the answer.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

I can imagine... if I were you, I would tune my engine up to +400 bhp, tune the suspension for improved handling, try to fit 19" wheels, all for about $15k, and spend the rest on track driving courses... unfortunately where I live, there are no Porsche tuners, or tracks for any driving courses

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

Too bad there is no chunnel from Ireland. You could drive to the mainland and visit RUF. They have an excellent suspension that takes all the nervousness righ out of the MkII Gt3. One of the owners of the US RUF dealership owned a 996 GT3 and said it transformed the car.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

RS version for sure BUT in Viper Green !!!!

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

Where are some viper green pics? I still think orange would be da bomb.

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

saw these pics. once, and I've been looking for them ever since! thanks

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

my 997 C2S Tiptronic lacks sole... my old 996 Anniversary had more sole to it... maybe I'll trade it in for a manual C2S with the X51 power kit!

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)

Both magazines, Sport Auto and AMS, had a very brief review of the GT3 RS in their recent copy. Reading between the lines both didn't attest an extremely different feel and behaviour between the two models.

The next copy of SportAuto, coming in mid Oct. will feature a Supertest of the GT3 RS - a direct comparison should be possible at that time.

Thanks, Ferdie - please post info when you see it

Re: Loaded GT3 or GT3 RS (Orange)
