Beige or two tone natural with expresso/cognac would go well with GT Silver. Both would give the interior a richer look becoming of a $200,000 car.

    nberry,

One last question for you on color. What are your thoughts on a solid black interior with the GT Silver?

    Thanks

My view is that though an all black interior is acceptable, it can be somewhat pedestrian.

    nberry,

You make a good point about the somewhat pedestrian nature of all black.  I am tempted by the  expresso/cognac but some think this combo doesn't work that well with the carbon fiber accents.  Also, wife thinks the cognac has too much orange in it.  Beige is just too light for me.  Black/black is so easy, but after around a dozen or so of this combo, I really want something different.  I am really stuck at the moment about what to do and running out of time.Smiley

Thank you but I think that the Turbo S really looks good in white, I saw almost every color (not Rhodium Silver unfortunately...) live, incl. black (not sure if it was plain black or basalt black) and agate grey and I liked white most. The car has a certain presence in white, for those who want to attract attention, I would recommend racing yellow (better than red in my opinion).

    RC,

For a GT Silver car would you go with a black interior or the black/red interior?

With GT Silver, black/red will cheapen the look of the interior. For contrast with an all black interior, you might want to consider deviated stitching.

I think you may have a point here but not sure why I feel this way.  Everyone seems to agree the the black/red looks great on the white car and on agate grey,  so what is it about the GT  silver that changes things?

Lots of views on black/red w/silver; here are a couple of a (not 911 - our ex M coupe) closely similar combination, as BMW's Titanium Silver is slightly brighter than GT Silver.  In my view, the combination works precisely because it is not expected... the cool emotions of a silver outside is "balanced" by the warmer emotions of the red highlights inside.   It avoids the letdown of a silver car which when opened yields... nothing but black.  Of course the owners needs to enjoy  this dichotomy.  Re. the mens suit analogy, this combination is not a "safe" Savile Row grey suit with black lining, more like a suit by the Italian designer Etro... for those who know, it will have a conservative wool outside with a dazzling set of patterns and colours in the lining.  Smiley  We owned this car for 8 years and never tired of this combination, which (even in conservative Canada) got lots of positive comments.

Go to you dealer and see if he has the colors in cars on the lot for you to view. You will be surprise how much easier it will make your decision. Your wife may be right about cognac but has she seen the natural color couple with it? Also, are carbon accents necessary?

FWIW, beige is a classic color with silver. It provides richness to the car.

If you are still undecided after visiting the dealership, then I suggest you go with your initial color combination black/red. Obviously you liked it.

I like Espresso/GT Silver.  Carbon accents look good with Espresso...

    Classic Carrera GT combo...

Thanks to all for the really helpful comments on color.  When I started this process my first choice was black/black and then went down the road of thinking it was time for something different, etc.  Today I saw a brand new 2014 C4S in black/black and boy was it stunning - a really gorgeous car.  I am off to the dealer tomorrow for some additional soul searching!

    nberry,

your comments about the carbon fiber accents maybe not being necessary is worthy of some thought.  Since the interior carbon fiber comes standard on TTS I never really questioned having it, but after taking a close look at the black/black C4S today realize that the interior silver accents add a nice sparkle to the interior that would not be there with the carbon fiber.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I saw a black Turbo and I really didn't like it. I love black but I think that black hides a lot of 991 Turbo design elements.

Speaking of carbon fibre: It depends on the interior color choice. With black/Carrera red bi-color, the carbon fibre looks very nice. Thanks god Porsche doesn't offer a wood interior...oh wait, they do.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Sporty color combo go carbon fiber.  More "luxurious" color combo (like espresso or cognac) I'd go with brushed aluminum instead.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Have a 991 loaner today with a black interior. Let's put it like this, I would not spend my money on a full leather interior in black, then I would choose the standard leather. It's just very plain, probably even boring. The espresso interior in my Cayenne looks more special and exclusive and it will look great with carbon too. I considered espresso/cognac but It has indeed a more luxury car feel, less sporty... ok ok you can argue about the sportiness of an SUV, but still indecision

    RC,

Recently you expressed some doubts about your choice of Agate Grey.  If your order were still open to change, what alternate color would be at the top of your list to consider, given you have now seen most of the colors on the actual cars?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I could actually change my order as I found out recently, there is a certain moment in the production process where I could change the color without delaying my car (this is not something you can usually do, so please don't bother your dealer because it is more complicated than it sounds) but I decided not to do that because I'm still not sure about my color choice.

I ordered agate grey but I actually like white a lot, it fits the car very well and it looks good with the black/Carrera red bi-color interior I ordered. I saw this combo on the moscow presentation car but didn't realize until recently how good this combination looks LIVE. I'm not surprised Porsche chose this color combo for presentation purposes.

The color choice is really difficult. Dark colors don't look good in my opinion because they hide some of the Turbo/S design highlights. Also, due to the smaller and less obvious side air intakes, the 991 Turbo/S looks almost like a normal Carrera from the side and even more when the car is dark or even black and you cannot see the side air inlets.

This is just my personal opinion!!! Right now, white and race yellow seem to be the best looking colors. Race yellow is extreme, I agree but I find it more suitable than the guards red (too Ferrari-ish). Silver tones look good, the lighter, the better but they kind of add some sort of elegant touch to the car and I'm not sure I want this for such a car. Darker colors look nice of course but they really hide the major design elements.

Color is a matter of choice though. I wouldn't order Lime Gold (this is really extreme, unless you REALLY want to attract attention...), I wouldn't order Mahagony met. and even Sapphire met. isn't really my thing, it just makes the car look elegant.

So while I am more inclined towards white now, I keep my agate grey order and if I really don't like it, I will use foil to switch to matte white, a matte grey or a matte light grey, not sure yet.

Smiley I'm sticking to agate grey now because I really like the meteor grey on my Cayenne GTS and while agate grey looks different (I really didn't recognize it when I saw it on a 991 Turbo), I kind of have an "inner resistance" against white because this isn't a color you can maintain easily (my wife's X3 is white, her former M3 Cab was white...not easy to keep clean). Since I plan to use foil anyway, maybe my choice for agate grey will be a good excuse to get that special (foil) color of choice I am thinking about. Smiley

Hi RC.  I'm a bit confused.  What interior color are you favoring now, assuming you go with Agate?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

    Black and red two tone.

I think you both are right.  I guess I am down to GT Silver or Agate.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

Have you considered Rhodium Silver? It is VERY rich looking. The light blue hue with the silver gives the car a very distinctive and luxurious appearance. My view on Agate is well known.Smiley

Remind me of your view on Agate.  Also, has anyone seen an Agate car next to a Ferrari in Grigio Silverstone?  A while back had a Grigio Silverstone car  and really liked it but find it difficult to remember  the exact shade of grey as compared to the Agate.

Haven't been able to find a car in Rhodium Silver.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

I do not like grey on a sport car. It is a color for military vehicles and meant to "hide" the vehicle. I believe in the 991 GT3 thread there is a picture of a Rhodium Silver GT3. Also, the Porsche configurator can give you some idea what it looks like.

Is it correct to say that  rhodium silver is a bit darker than GT Silver?

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

If darker it is because of the bluish hue. Maybe your dealer has a sample. FWIW, approximately 35% of all Porsche's on the road are silver. Rhodium Silver would be a nice elegant variation.

Re: OFFICIAL: 991 Turbo and Turbo S

From all the pics I've seen, when compared to GT silver, Rhodium silver is lighter and has a blue hue under cloudy conditions.  I like the GT silver because it's a rich dark silver with a gray undertone.  I ordered the TTS in GT silver with black/carrera leather and brushed aluminum interior package.  Metal is the theme.

This is what I have a problem with...the word elegant and a GT3 or 991 Turbo S don't mix well. Smiley

I haven't seen Rhodium Silver yet live, which is sad because I really wanted to give this color a chance but I think my favorite color would have been Seal Grey or the 997 GT3RS grey (look at the Boxster photo one of our users posted, very nice color). Both can be ordered as special order colors but this also means that the car production would be delayed by aprox. 6 months.
