Somehow I don't see this being faster than the 991TTS... Isn't that Speciale performance territory?

Who said faster? Read more carefully. I said as fast on the track as 991TS. In straight line it will be at least as fast as 991 GT3.

For me in both cases (track and straight line) more then enough.

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

I've been thinking about this car a bit more. If I get one, I should be comparing it against a 911 Turbo? Ie. more of a GT car that is comfortable than an all out sports car like a GT3?

    Wayne,

Read the article in link that I posted in this thread (latest link) carefully and you will get your answers.

That article is very intriguing - makes me very interested, but the Cayman GT4 probably suits me better with its manual gearbox option.  Seems like a very cool car - looking forward to your impressions Smiley

Those multimatic shocks are the real deal - they use those in the new Camaro Z/28, but I don't know why Porsche doesn't have a premium hardware option like that.  Maybe on the new GT3 RS?

Do you know the front/rear weight distribution?  With rear transaxle, there is a possibility that it could weigh more in rear than front (like Ferrari F12).  Also, do we know the final weight figure yet?

Weight distribution is 47% front and 53% rear. It shoul be around 1540kg with full tank and standard brakes. Little bit less with Ceramics.

Regarding power GT 462ps and GT-S 510ps. Black version with 580ps will follow in 2017 (with less weight as well).

AMG did more then 40000km on the Ring for suspension tuning.

I still don't see how the car should be as quick as the 991 turbo S on the track? Very mysterious... If I had to bet the AMG cannot be as quick...

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

What is SLS AMG Sport Auto Ring time?

    7.40min with street Continental tires.

What is 991 Turbo S Sport Auto Ring time?

7.34min with Michelin Cup 2 UHP tires.

New AMG GT-S will be faster on the Ring then SLS AMG on street tires.

Will it beat 991 Turbo S? Honestly, I do not care at all. I got all currently available info about AMG GT and GT-S and I can tell you it will be awsome, relatively affordable,  two seat, mid-front engine, rwd sportscar.

I agree, the aggressive pricing could make it very interesting Smiley The interior looks great, BTW.

That sounds great - love the rear weight bias and overall weight is reasonable.  Multimatic suspension will be top shelf.  If they had manual gearbox (I know, Benz never does that) I would be very tempted.

Sounds like its basically close to a $135k US price, Elsewhere would depend what country you are in and what Porsche charges locally for options.

No, it will be less.  C2S starts at $99k and we don't need $36k in options...

462hp seems too low, as does 510hp to be honest.

How much torque will each model have?

As turbo motors, torque figures are likely to be close to hp numbers (in ft-lbs).  We live in quite an era that 510hp seems low.

Even a Dodge Challenger has over 700hp:

    Re: AMG GT Thread Closed

I can see how customers would like this car but I still think it is overpriced for a car which wants to "attack" the 911. The only way to attract 911 lovers would be over the price tag because the rear seats are important to many 911 owners, also the reputation of the car. It is a 911 for god's sake.

My Mercedes sales guy just claimed yesterday that the GT price tag will surprise many (in a positive way) but he didn't give me any numbers. Maybe he was comparing the price tag of the 510 hp GT with the one of the 400 hp Carrera S but we all know that horsepower isn't everything. With a base price of under 100k EUR, the 510 hp GT could be an interesting alternative to the Carrera S but if Mercedes asks 120 or 130k EUR from the start, the car will not really attract any serious 911 owner or possible owner in any way.

My guess is: The GT with 510 hp will be under 100k EUR (base price) and the GT with the less powerful engine somewhere below 90k EUR base price. Of course the stronger GT with Performance Package will have a base price of at least 115k EUR but let's just wait for the official announcement and the official prices.

The advantage with Mercedes was always that they provide huge rebates, at least in Germany. Not sure however they will do that for a brand-new model.

Don't keep your hopes up. My sales guy didn't have the prices yet and I don't know how accurate his information was.

However, if Mercedes wants to introduce a new product and "steal" customers from others (911), they need to attract these customers somehow. Excessive power is one thing but the price tag works even better.
