    NA amg's

    anybody know WHY they are going back to NA engines? I would think that the supers and turbos are perfect for them, as TORQUE is what you notice when you are driving an auto-equipped, heavy car, not the super high RPM HP.

    I seriously have no idea why they would go back to an NA engine. Ever since they started using forced induction with their V8 Kompressor and their V12 Bi-Turbos I find NA engines to be completely inferior, and with their immense torque at just the correct rpm range, it makes for an unbeatable kick.

    I hate NA engines since they have way less torque and are just too "puny".

    If reliability was an issue i'm sure they wouldn't be making 20,000 + of these engines, and the V8 Kompressor has been in development since 98, and the V12 Bi-Turbo since 2000/1

    I remember an AMG engineer saying it was mroe to do with fuel consumption than anything else. Who cares? I think for what you get in return its a great trade, but thats just my IMO.

    I mean compare these facts with torque weight etc.

    Old Brabus EV12 582bhp 7.3 V12 775Nm of torque at 4000rpm...1900kgs~

    Performance>? 0-100mph in 11.5-12 seconds...

    New Mercedes-Benz AMG E55 5.4L V8 Kompressor 500~bhp 700Nm at 2650-4500rpm...

    Performance? 0-100mph in 10 seconds! Or Less!

    And take the CGT/Enzo/Zonda...they both weigh around 400-500kgs LESS than the SLR yet the SLR has extremely similar performance...with just similar hp, but torque is a different story...


    What better argument do you need to justify the magnificence of these force induction engines?

    Not even a NA 6.3 V8 with 570bhp/600bhp could replace a 550bhp V8 Kompressor! Well maybe...



    All I want for the future is more power and less weight from AMG. Faith tells me it may be true one day..
